“The ultimate in cool ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

This place is the definition of cool and funky. The room I stayed in was very large --- an entire family could stay there! -- and was decorated in such a funky and edgy way that I can hardly begin to describe it. But it was a genuine cool, and not like it was trying too hard.

I really liked the location, at Hollywood and Vine, because I wanted to be in the heart of the action. I enjoyed walking all over the place to see what Hollywood was all about. There was a lot going on at all times. Even in the hotel there was a lot happening, especially at night, for better or worse.

Because at night the masses descend upon the Redbury to indulge in its night club life. Sometimes that feels like your private sanctuary is being invaded by strangers, so it's best to dive right in and join them!

Here's a dealbreaker tip: get a room that is AWAY from the alleyway, because all night long the empty beer bottles from the nightclub are tossed out into the trash by the armful and they make that crashing sound that is impossible to ignore.

The staff was great all around, and it was very nice to be able to park your car at the hotel within the hotel's own garage...

Room Tip: Avoid the alley-side rooms.

I need to mention that I did not stay in this hotel as an overnight guest, but I had some friends who were staying there, and having heard about it, I asked to see it. So this will be a short review based on what I saw. And it was awesome.

The room my friends were staying in had a record player, with real records for them to play during their stay, a kitchenette (I think?) there was definitely a kitchen. Beautifully decorated with Hollywood memorabilia, including an old skool map of LA. And a personal patio!

The staff was not shy about asking my 5000 questions even though I said I was a friend of guests and was not staying there. They saw that they have a very excited potential future customer.

I wish I'd written this sooner because I this was over a month ago, but it left a lasting enough impression that I am campaigning to stay at this place for at least one night next time we are in L.A. Which is a lot. We usually stay with family, but next time, Redbury, I am updating my review from a guest perspective. I can hardly wait.

You know this hotel is going to be something special the second you pull up to it.

The rooms are absolutely huge and amazing. Everything from the random vinyl records to the couches, kitchen, and the bathrooms are done with a funky & upbeat style of class.

I would definitely recommend this place to stay at, and to take wedding pictures at if you're getting married in Los Angeles.

This is one of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed at! From the decor, to the location, to the people who work there, it was such an amazing experience. We apparently had one of the smaller rooms and it was 750 sq. ft., so it was more then enough space for us. My husband and I will be looking to stay at The Redbury every time we go to LA.

Dear Jaclyn H,
We are thrilled and humbled to be given the moniker of the “Coolest Hotel Ever” and will do our best to live up to that standard! You are correct that our smallest rooms are 750 square feet, so you get about twice the space of the average hotel room in Los Angeles. We really appreciate you kind words and hope to see you back at The Redbury really soon.
Best Wishes,
David Lang

This was our second time staying at the Redbury on Hollywood and Vine. The point of this vacation was to go to Disneyland. It's about a 30 minute drive or so from Hollywood to Disney, which we didn't mind because we wanted to be closer to the night life and touristy things to do in Hollywood. We don't have kids and had our own car so that might make a difference.

My wife and I typically stay at nicer hotels such as the Cosmopolitan or Venetian in Las Vegas or the Clift in San Francisco to give you a feel for what our style is.

We like the Redburry because the rooms are large and clean. Some of them have views of the Capitol Records building and the Hollywood sign. It's very quick access to the 101 freeway. It's walking distance to Grauman's Chinese theatre and other touristy things to do as well as many nightclubs and venues (such as the Palladium) and many upscale restaurants (Drai's, Katsuya, etc).

When you book ahead, if you do non-refundable like we did, you can often get an 800 sqft room for about $225/night which seems pretty good for being right in the heart of everything like that.

The room has a kitchen, a couch and living area, a bedroom, and a decent sized bathroom with a separate room for toilet and a large shower. It's perfect for couples. They also have a balcony you sit on. This time we did not have any view and did not use the balcony. The only real downside to our room.

As a side note, if you plan to go to the beach and don't mind taking the scenic route, take Sunset Blvd for a good chunk of the drive. You'll see a ton of recognizable places and once you get out of West Hollywood, you'll come to Beverly Hills and Bel Air. The mansions you drive past are unreal, if you like seeing that sort of thing.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of either Hollywood Blvd or Vine St are better for watching the odd cast of charac...

Dear Kyle_10,
Thank you for your review of The Redbury @ Hollywood and Vine. We hope you had a blast at Disneyland and love your taste in hotels as we’re big fans of both the Clift in San Francisco and the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas! Thanks for spreading the word about our advance purchase offer as it’s a great way for people to save on our already great rates. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to The Redbury next time you are in Los Angeles.
Best Wishes,
