We made the mistake of going to the Getty during Spring Break. Not only were there kids with parents, but there were kids with teachers! This was my first visit to the Getty so I was concerned we would be over run with noise. No problem...This place is so large, and there is so much to see that there is room for everyone! It was a beautiful spring day so I wanted to make sure I visited the sprawling gardens. So many ideas to take home. The grounds are perfect. It's nice to see permeable soil instead of paths of cement. There are benches to sit and enjoy the smaller treats, like bees climbing into purple bells, or the grand view of downtown Los Angeles. I recommend you pack a picnic. We ate in the cafeteria, which had a generous variety, but I would have much rather brought some munchies and enjoy the grassy knolls. And the museums! We only visited two of the five. Not only are there plenty to look at, there is so much to read about each display. I stopped and read everything (poor hubby). You only pay for parking so this is a bargain for groups or families.
