“Great dining experience with a group”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Bottega Louie is conveniently located downtown close to hotels/convention center/staples center. Food is delicious and the service was excellent (except for the manager who was obviously hovering over tables in a desire to rush people through their meal). The wait can be a bit long as they do not take reservations, but arrive early and enjoy a drink from the bar. I highly recommend partaking of desert which seems to be a specialty course for this restaurant.

Great place with great service. Food is delicious. A little bit noisy, but still a great restaurant.

“Excellent Food and Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We arrived at Bottega Louie at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday and was seated immediately by the friendly host. Our server Tyler was also very friendly and efficient, as were the busboys. The dining room was already half-full at this time and was completely full by the time we left just before 7 pm.

We started with small plates of Grilled Octopus and Diver Scallops, both of which were perfectly cooked and tender. Then we had entrees of Ceppo Gamber (jumbo shrimp and ceppo pasta) and the Roasted Cod Both were delicious!

For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Souffle (which Tyler recommended allowing 20 minutes to prepare) and a selection of 4 pieces of their famous Macarons. The souffle was perfectly baked and oh-so-scrumptious! The macarons were also delicious and the freshly brewed coffee was the perfect complement.

The service was excellent. Tyler checked with us periodically during the meal to make sure we were happy and the busboys refilled our water and cleared the plates promptly.

We really enjoyed Bottega Louie and will return to try some of their other menu choices, like the small/large plates, pizzas and pasta dishes.

As others have mentioned, however, the noise level is off the charts loud, so don't expect soft music or quiet conversations here...

“A great restaurant in Downtown LA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We found Bottege Louie by chance as we wandered around Downtown.
From the outside it did not look much, but as we got closer the numbers of people entering and leaving were amazing.
Once inside we were confronted with a counter displaing macceroons of every conceivable colour, but also some very tasty looking pattiseries, cakes and the like.
Some nice wines, oils and chocolates, all very tempting.
Then the bar and bar restaurant area, to get a drink, or have a meal at a table which you grabbed as one came free, bit of a lottery at times.
The kitchen where all the meals were prepared was spotless, and open for all to see.
The large restaurant area, where you had to wait to get a table by having your name put on the waiting list, was run by a couple of ladies, very efficiently.
The food, of which there was a wide choice, the service and the ambience were all superb.
Next time in LA thats top of my list.

“Seriously? Such a disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

Several friends had raved about this place and all was great, except the food!! We started with the portobello fries and artichokes, neither were hot, the artichoke was uninspiring. I had the trenne pasta. The meat was tough and dry and the pasta was hard and crisp, almost fried? My girlfriend had the chicken Carfioci, the chicken was overcooked, tough and dry and it was far too salty. We ended the evening with a macaroon. A $2.00 quarter sized marginally fresh cookie. A bit of profit there I'd guess?
The service was great if not a bit rushed. The volume was as high as the ceiling. Hmmmm? Show me quality LA cuisine, this surely cannot be it!
