“Fresh, new, excellent.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

We had the bento combination dinners before the LA PHIL. and it was warm enough for us to sit outside in the beautifully lit courtyard. However, the white tableclothed tables we passed on the way to use the bathrooms looked so elegant that next time, we will sit inside. Our server was cool and the service was fast. It was a high end taste without the high end price. So nice to find a great restaurant in a city we know nothing about!

“Asian Fusion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

This is a great place for a meal in downtown. Try the daily Bento for a great variety of tastes. Not overly expensive but not a budget place either. Very good quality and a reasonable value.

“Chaya - Gem in the Heart of Downtown LA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

Chaya is a vibrant, hip restaurant in the heart of Downtown LA. The food is amazing and filled with flavor. The Tuna Tartar melts in your mouth. The Grilled Sea Bass is the best I've ever had, both tender and flavorful! The Lamb shank also falls off the bone and is not too dry as Lamb can be. The service is very attentive but not overbearing but the highlight is the beautiful modern, Asian inspired decor. Very Hollywood Shiek. Would definitely revisit and must mention the Sea Bass Again!

“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

Had a wonderful meal. Good service, good wine list and I loved the bread.
My partner had Black Cod and I had the Paella. The cod was so good it melted in your mouth.
The paella was one of the tastiest I have ever had.
And that god that the noise level was below average. Hate noisy restaurants.
Would love to go back and try some of their sushi dishes.

“Japanese fusion at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

You could be mistaken for being unsure whether this is a Japanese restaurant or not but in a good way. The dishes meld some European classics with Japanese delicacy. The wine list is excellent, the decor artistic and the service crisp. Not disappointed!
