“Fantastic Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Lesley from Sydney Australia

We stayed at this hotel during November in 2012 and loved the location. To have plenty of eateries, shops theatres in walking distance was a real advantage. The staff were always friendly and I loved the buscuits in the reception area each morning. The restaurant attached to Farmers Daughter had great food and we only realised that on our last night so coming back to this hotel next time I'm in LA will be a MUST. Thanks staff for a great stay.

Room Tip: Not near the road

We arrived in LA on Christmas Day and stayed through the new year. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Our family of four stayed in the building across from the courtyard. We loved the country decor. The room was small, but clean. The biggest negative is that the walls are paper thin. You can hear the people in the room next to you, especially when they are in the bathroom. Also, there is an alley that runs behind the hotel and it is pretty busy/loud throughout the night. The location could not be better. The Farmer's Market and The Grove across the street is a huge plus. We spent several nights there shopping and having dinner. We thought the daily parking fee was pretty steep, but from what I can gather, it is typical for LA. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed there from end Dec to beginning Jan 2013. It was clean and comfortable. My son love the country atmosphere too. He loved the swim with the ducklings in the pool. The location was perfect. The car rental company messed up our reservation, end out, we didn't have the car for a night but no problem at all because we just walked across to farmers market to have dinner. Supermarkets and pharmacy were just within walking distance too. The hotel was a short drive to Hollywood, Beverly hills and Universal studio. We had breakfast at the Tart restaurant (on property), they served wonderful breakfast. Even the locals will make reservation to eat there.
We will definitely stay there if we were to go back again.

Room Tip: We(2 adults and 1 child)stayed at the standard room for 2 nights and a family suite for 6 nights. I...

Not fancy or luxurious but quirky, cute hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great location and reasonably priced for LA. My son loved the chips and fresh cookies in the lobby as well as the birds. They have a nice outdoor pool and outside area. They do charge for parking even if you are a hotel guest but it is far less than the other hotels I considered.

Farmer's Daughter is an adorable little motel in a great location of LA. We came just to go to the LA County Museum of Art, which is less than a mile down the road. This building has been a motel for probably 60 years, but the upgrades make a huge difference in making it feel like a four star hotel. For example, the floors are hardwood instead of carpet (thank goodness!) and the lobby and courtyard are decorated like fun hangout spaces. The sexual jokes made about the daughter in the name are tacky, but I guess that's LA style. If you're spending over $200 a night for a hotel anyway, you could find something nicer in LA, but not cuter. Plan on spending $18/night for parking. P.S. We loved the in-room coffee.

Room Tip: Don't bother asking for a view, there isn't anything to look at. Beds are comfy no matter wh...

Excellent little hotel in Fairfax, Downtown LA.
Prices very reasonable, rooms comfortable and the staff were really friendly and helpfull.
10 minutes walk to The Beverly Centre shopping Mall (and the excellent Capital Grille restaurant)
Across the road from CBS tv studios and The Grove shopping area.
Also across the road from The original Farmers Market with excellent range of food to try.

Farmer's Daughter is a really cute motel. They decorated it nicely, and it's spotless. They offer some cute little extras - fresh cookies in the lobby, cider, lemonade and caramels - and the staff is friendly.

Location? Right across from the Farmers Market, so, unlike most of the city, there are quite a few places to eat and drink within walking distance. The Grove shopping mall is there too, but don't get me started on shopping malls designed as fake streets.

Anyway, I like the place - can't help it - but 500+ for two nights in a motel? Plus, you HAVE to do valet parking at 20/day. First, I hate mandatory valet. Second, throw it in for free at your glorified/glamified (I know that's not a real word, by the way) motel.
