We stayed at the Westin LAX for two nights because we needed something close to the airport. Their free airport shuttle worked great for us, and we could walk right next door to Thrifty to pick up our rental car, therefore not having to pay for parking!

Despite the hotel being busy with conventions we received great service from the front desk, the bellmen and shuttle drivers, and we received our wake-up call exactly when we requested it.

We had two rooms, one on the eighth floor, one on the eleventh - both rooms faced the street. We could hear airplanes, but not loud enough to lose sleep over. Then again, I love airplanes so I could sit there and watch them land for hours! I briefly heard the dogs barking that other people have mentioned, but only faintly.

The room itself was typical Westin with all of the standard amenities, although with two (very comfortable!) Queen beds I thought the room was a bit small. Functionally everything in the room worked great. Cosmetically the room was very clean, although the door to the minibar cabinet didn't open properly because it was only hanging on by one hinge. I also noticed one electrical outlet that was starting to come loose from the wall. Everything in the bathroom was great and all of the plumbing worked fine.

Breakfast at Westin hotels is normally expensive, so we hit one of the fast food places down the street - an easy walk. Century Blvd. is busy, but the Westin has a stop light with a crosswalk so you can easily and safely cross the street.

The swimming pool looked very clean, and we used the hot tub which was also clean and seemed to work fine. Never made use of the workout room.

Overall, this was a very convenient airport hotel. If given the choice, I'd stay here again.

  • Liked — Convenient to LAX, great service from the staff.
  • Disliked — A couple of cosmetic issues in the room.

I cant believe this hotel is consider a 4 star!.. I would say more like 2.5.

Lets's see... The restaurant downstairs has terrible AND very expensive food, the room was old, dirty carpet, view of a roof, the pool and spa water looked like it had not been clean in forever, the bubbles in the spa DID NOT work! but I must say the concierge mexican guys were AWESOME! very friendly, helpfull and totally went out of their way to help me out.

I forgot to mention, the hotel charged me an extra $212 for god knows what ( my bank will take erase the charges) but still very inconvinient to deal with.

Basically, I will never stay here again and would not recommend to anyone, unless u must stay near airport. Otherwise spend the money and stay in Santa Monica or Manhattan Beach.

Stayed for one night enroute to San Diego, booked through priceline (92/night +tax). Huge savings, considering the room was going for more than 200 the night we stayed there. The good and the bad:

GOOD - the hotel was close to the airport, shuttle arrived few minutes after we arrived at bus waiting area. Westin does not have an airport phone service (where you can call for pick up from the airport), we just went directly to waiting area to see how long pickup will take (3mins). Check in was a breeze, we booked through priceline and our reservation was quickly located. Room preference (king sized bed) was noted. There is an on-site mini-mart to purchase necessities (water!), Restaurant was alright, clam chowder not too bad. Lobby impressive. Bed alright, but personally prefer the marriott beds better. In-room coffee maker great, iron provided, in-room safety deposit. Room internet fast but with flat rate charge.

BAD - The room was NOT CLEANED PROPERLY prior to our arrival. There were chips scattered in the room cabinet along with 2 opened bags of chips that were left behind by the previous occupants. Goodness knows how long theyve been kept there, sure to attract BUGS. However, we did not see any bugs in the roomduring our stay. Amenities were basic - shampoo, soap, lotion. Expected more from a FOUR STAR hotel. There was a huge chaise lounge in the room, did not look clean at all, with suede cover askewed and a greenish moss color. Local calls are charged 7.25 first minute! We asked concierge for nearby restaurants, and we were informed there wasnt any nearby. We tried to go to Santa Monica for dinner and asked concierge re transportation. No cabs, they said, and offered to take us there for $40.00 EACH WAY. We just decided to eat at the hotel restaurant, only to see PIZZA HUT AND TACO BELL across the road from the hotel restaurant! We were already seated and did not relish crossing the highway, so we just stayed put and enjoyed our meal.

Overall, will not come back to this hotel.

I've stayed at the Westin LAX several times on business. It has the standard Westin comforts (very comfortable bed, good shower, nice furnishings) -- nothing particularly outstanding, but a pleasant enough place to stay. The bathrooms seem a bit dated, but the bedrooms are well-appointed. The accessible rooms (for disabled travelers) are quite a bit larger (though standard rooms are decently sized as well); the drawback is that the shower is not as nice. The gym is pretty well equipped, though a bit cramped, and there is a lounge for SPG [elite?] members on the top floor with a few computers set aside free internet access. Self-parking seems somewhat easier than some of the other hotels I've tried at LAX (e.g., the Sheraton and Hilton), as long as you remember to keep your parking pass with you. The soundproofing isn't perfect, but I managed to sleep well enough (perhaps because of the wonderful bed).

Got this hotel, where we stayed for 5 nights on Priceline at a good price. Priceline gives it 4 stars and I would definitely agree. It is a quality establishment and our room was quite good. Only drawbacks were burned out buttons in the elevators, one broken lamp in our room and the $17 daily parking fee. Also make sure they clearly explain the procedure for getting in and out of the parking garage as its somewhat complex and unusual. Overall staying here was a pleasant experience and we would definitely go back.
