Ok, I am going to give an honest review here. I have stayed at Westins before and have been happy, so this wasn't new but not at LAX. My wife and I were doing a last minute vacation extension for 2 days here so we found this at Hotwire for $100 a night total....ok seems good. We were dressed nice but in shorts and polos which I seemed to get a lot of looks from the staff, but that's OK as I understand this is a business traveler hotel especially in the week. We checked in and got to the room and it had the most filthy bathroom counter and dresser top almost like lotion was spilled on both. There were small items on the floor like hair clips and bits of paper. The bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke from the shower curtain. We were thinking "Ok, not a big deal, but they could have tried harder." We then go to the pool, in which the pool chemicals we so off and strong that we had to get out sooner than we wanted. We have an in ground pool so we have a good idea. It was so bad that we both smell like chlorine 2 days afterwards even with 3 showers. This was by far the worst hotel pool that I have ever swam in. Last was the kicker and you must be aware of this before you stay. Our room was on the south east side. There is a business called the "LA Kennel Club" below on the street which is obviously a dog boarding kennel. The dogs were loudly audible 150 yards away from where our room was. They are put up at night around 9-9:30 but they are outside barking nice and loud early in the morning. I tried to get another room but none were available. Forget sleeping in if you want! The planes from LAX were a non issue for noise. Other than that, the hotel was nice and easy to get to LAX and other attractions. Of course parking is $18 per day. All of these items were told to the front desk person at check out and the operator. Both were not sincere with their apologies and no remedy was even remotely offered. My point is that we are in no way very picky people but even if you get a deal on this place, it still is not a deal. I wouldn't even be writing this review if it were the just the dirty room and the pool, but the dogs were way over the top. This was just not acceptable from a "4 star".

We stayed here for our first night in LA before moving on to our resort. I checked octopus travel for prices on this hotel as I'd heard they were very cheap, they quoted roughly 100 dollars (65 pounds), I then took the quote and had Westin/Starwood match it -10% with their best price policy.

As LAX was utter pandemonium at 8.30pm on a sunday night and customs/imigration had taken forever to get us through (2 hours) I took a taxi to the hotel to save further strain on my tired partner ($17.50) - I saw one airport shuttle go past, just as we got into our taxi - and we'd waited something like 20 minutes. I'd find out where the shuttle stops before trying to find it, LAX is bonkers at this time of the evening and week.

Check-in was very quick and friendly, room was very good with a view of the airport and the noise that brings, bed was good, no HBO on the TV though which was annoying as we wanted to just cool down watching some telly before going to bed.

The hotels next to the 5400 century blvd Thrifty outlet which is convinient if that particular franchise lacks a fair bit of customer service.

We'd stay there again if the price was right, we paid a little more over the other hotels nearbyfor a hotel we knew we'd get as opposed to priceline or hotwire and for your first night with a tired partner it's nice to know.

In a great location if you're flying into LAX and are heading off on a journey elsewhere - minutes away from car rental / airport/highways to almost every direction. Lovely rooms with everything you can need - just be prepared to put up with the noise of the aeroplanes coming into land! Overall fantastic hotel, just a shame didn't get the chance to explore more of it. Maybe not the best location if you're just interested in LA but you're going to need a car anyway as public transport is practically none existent.

Got an EXCELLENT deal off Hotwire..The Westin is an absolutely beautiful hotel!!! The conceirge (Sal) was extremely helpful in finding me transportation to and from the hotel--I recommend taking the Ocean Express Shuttle to Manhattan Beach if you have a few hrs. to kill (only $3 round trip)--and the location of the hotel is really easy to find--and that's coming from someone who has never been to LA before!! The room has everything you could imagine..the beds are a dream to sleep on and they offer lots of beauty supplies (there is a cost, however) if you are interested. The pool was beautiful and had plenty of chairs..even supplied towels for guests. They fitness center was well equipped with machines and TV's, too...All in all, the place is just fabulous..One negative might be the price to park--$18--but I didn't find that be unreasonable, given the price of the room I got--under $100!! I highly recommend this hotel !!!
