“Lovely hotel in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Very characterful and well kept hotel in nice, quiet and secluded grounds, but located immediately off the beach in a great location for bars and restaurants. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend. Was a great start to a 3 week holiday in California from London.

We wanted to stay somewhere a bit special for the last night of our Californian adventure and certainly found it with the Venice Beach House. The best compliment that I can pay it is that it is like staying with friends rather than in a hotel. A lovely property with plenty of space and lots of comfortable chairs and loungers spread around the garden.

We stayed (I think) in the Aimee MacPherson Suite. The private entrance lead into a passage with the bathroom to the right followed by a room with a single bed and then the main bedroom with a lovely garden view, large bookcase and a flatscreen TV.

Only a couple of minor points. The WiFi signal didn't reach the main bedroom and opposite the bathroom door was a locked door that lead to the kitchen. We could hear every word spoken and noise made in the kitchen while it was in use (and I suppose the kitchen staff could hear every noise from our bathroom....).

Overall, a very pleasant stay and a good way to end our trip.

We liked it a lot, felt at home and so close to the beach!

Unfortunately during summer you get young crowds around the place and we had to endure music right under our room that kept us up (we eventually went there and turned off the music ourselves :-) )

Staff a bit rude but it's fine.

Bathrooms are shared but this is not an issue at all (no waiting, very clean)

Room Tip: not on the main street

The Warren Wilson room was great with terrific décor and a great location 1/2 blk from beach, a lovely garden and comfortable porch. It was not problem to share bathroom; it was never occupied when I needed it. But, after paying for 2 nights in the Wilson room, I decided to stay a 3rd night, and was put in the Speedway room which had a noisy and almost constant cold air conditioner blasting away. and it was the same price as the Wilson. And the price quoted was for double occupancy but I was solo, eating only one brkfst, using only 1 person's water, utilities, etc.

Room Tip: Stay in the Warren Wilson, never the Speedway. Don't know about other rooms.

I want to thank everyone for all their honest reviews. As I reminder, our prices for all rooms including suites is based on double occupancy. Even rooms with multiple beds are included. This is a standard hotel practiced by most hotels around the world. I want to wish everyone safe travels!

Venice Beach House is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Only metres away from both the beach and a main street packed with restaurants and bars, it is perfectly located for Venice Beach. It is also only a short bike ride or walk away from Santa Monica. For those with cars, there is great parking and for those without cars, why would you want to leave the golden sandy beach? We had the most wonderful time and have been wholeheartedly recommending this beautiful little guesthouse to everyone we have met since we got back to the UK!

after flying into LAX, our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids aged 11 and 9) stayed for 2 nights at Venice Beach House and we were not to be disappointed - the house itself is fabulous and is located literally on the Ocean Front and close to many restaurants and bars but yet is so quiet and tranquil - we stayed in the family room which was perfect - breakfast was amazing both mornings and we got to meet some very interesting other guests - we would not hesitate to stay there again

I have discovered the Venice Beach House about four year ago and it was really a revelation! Now, every time I go through LA, I stay there!
It's home away from home, it is so cosy!
The house is so charming, the rooms are comfortable, the WIFI works well, the breakfast is great, served in a nice breakfast room.
It's just a block away from the beach, so it is close enough to go and have a nice walk on this beautiful beach, but far enough not to have the noise.
There are many nice restaurants, walking distance.
You can reserve your parking lot, which I recommend, because it is not so easy to park elsewhere .
The proximity to the LA international airport is really convenient. When we go to LA, we fly from Europe, and we are exhausted from our long flight. It is so nice to have only a 15-20 minutes drive and arrive in this calm and cosy house.
I warmly recommend the Venice Beach House.
