From the moment you arrive at this hotel you realize there is nothing ordinary about this property. Set in a lush canyon amongst some of the finest homes in Los Angeles, your personal oasis of elegance and tranquility awaits you. All you need to do is cross over the bridge.
The hotel is set up on a north to south axis and you use an outdoor pathway that meanders through the mostly two story Spanish styled property to guide your way. The cozy and comfortable lobby with fireplace is in the middle. A very stylish bar is across the way. Just up the pathway is the hotel restaurant with an attractive outdoor area, and a posh indoor space. Pass one of the beautiful courtyards and you arrive at the famous oval pool. We could go on. It is all very nice, very charming, and a fun place to just walk around and find all the cute little nooks and crannies.
We stayed in a canyon view suite which was pretty amazing. The room was large with a vaulted ceiling and a big sliding glass door that could be opened wide to create a wonderful indoor/outdoor environment. There was a nice sitting area with a couch. A desk and media console with cabinets in the middle of the room, and the bed on the other side. Nice earth tone colors gave the room a relaxing look and feel. The bathroom was very large with sand colored limestone, heated floor, large shower, separate tub, and a very high tech toilet. Our complaints about the suite were that the closet is not designed to hold any bags, they must remain out in view, and there was a connecting door to the adjoining room which is another feature we do not like. The terrace was a really great space with two comfortable chairs in front of a fire pit, a table with two chairs for dining, and two lounge chairs next to the private hot tub. This set up was true California living at its best and we made sure we spent extra time in our suite to enjoy it. The technology for the room was a little over the top, but it was cool to have a hotel personal I-pad during our stay.
As mentioned, it is a joy to wander around the beautiful flowered grounds of the hotel including a stop at the swan lake. A good resting place is the pool area. This lush location is also fully staffed. It is, however, a tight space with lounge chairs right next to each other. We liked that the original pool has remained the same even after a major renovation to the hotel less than two years ago. While everything is slick and new on the inside, much of the exterior of the hotel is the same as it was decades ago, retaining its charm while still looking great.
We did not get a chance to use the spa, but we did check out the gym which was pretty small, but of course very nice looking. We also asked to see a deluxe room with patio. We were shown two rooms, also a grand deluxe, and they looked even better than the photos on line. They were spacious, glamorous, styled to a high standard, and with very attractive looking bathrooms.
Last but not least, the staff was very professional, friendly, and made you feel welcomed.
With its special location, unique layout, beautiful rooms and public spaces, this hotel is truly very special. A stay here will not be regretted or forgotten.
North canyon rooms are in the quietest setting.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the closet, I will look into this matter. Regarding the connecting door, when you make your next reservation please tell the agent you would prefer a room that does not have a connecting room and we will be sure to accommodate you.
