Dear welltravelledDorset,

Thank you for celebrating your anniversary at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air. I am glad you enjoyed your dining experience as well as our spectacular garden setting. Experiencing the nighttime and daytime at Hotel Bel-Air is a must. Both provide a special experience and I look forward to the day you will be back to see us, perhaps this Spring when the blossoms are in full bloom?

Warm Regards,

“The beautiful grounds are incomparable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

The renovated Hotel Bel-Air is beautiful, but is a little to modern for our taste, and lacks a bit of the charm that the old hotel had. That being said, the service was excellent from check-in to check-out, the rooms are gorgeous (even though it was difficult to figure out the phones, iPads, lights, etc without a lesson, becaue it's so high tech) and the grounds, with the lush greenery and swans, is magical. We live in Los Angeles so it was a treat to stay just for one night. It's pricey but worth it as long as a bit of serenity and getting away from the crowd is what you are looking for.

Room Tip: The upgraded loft rooms are nice but a bit of a walk unless being close to the Spa is what you are l...

“A true 5 star experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Hotel Be-Air is my choice from now on when in LA.
Absolutely superb! We had amazing service from the beginning to the end. This is what I call service! There has been some top notch training involved for sure!

The ambiance of this place is incredible - situated in the middle of beautiful forest trees, you don't even feel you are in the middle of a cosmopolitan city!

The restaurant is by Wolfgang Puck, whom we met, and really great!
The bar is great also.
The SPA is fantastic, small but offers great treatments!

For it being such a great place, the price is reasonable compared to other hotels. It's close to Rodeo Dr., Sunset, and Santa Monica is 10 minutes away on the hwy. Really central!

Spectacular and can't wait to go back!

Dear live4thebeach072,

I am happy to hear Hotel Bel-Air is your first choice when staying in Los Angeles! It is great to hear our five star staff made a difference in your stay.

Chef Wolfgang is an amazing individual and spends a lot of time at Hotel Bel-Air, I am glad you were able to meet him. The location of Hotel Bel-Air is something that really sets us apart, being only up the street from Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Hills, when you arrive to the hotel you feel a world away. It is a true escape in the heart of Los Angeles.

See you soon!

Denise Flanders

“A lovely place, service a bit slow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

As mentionned in the two previous review, the hotel is lovely and the reno take it to a degree if comfort and style that is really great.
The in room fireplace where just perfect for the chilly winter evenings, and the patio quiet and sunny for a afternoon rest. The property is great and well groomed. A feel at home is all over the place. The only bemol to our stay was the slow and irregular service. For example one day they will bring new fresh fruits, the other not, one day they would replace the bar wine and water glasses, one day they would forget to bring new ones, so need to call the room service... That could have been a perfect stay but just because of this minor errors it blemishes a bit. Too bad... Because the staff is nice and not pretentious. For sure be back again!

“Very very good, but needs some adult management”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Agree with the last poster...the renovations are excellent - one of the most comfortable beds and really classy and tasteful decor. In fact, you cant fault the physical offering in any way - its a timeless classic, like its sister the Beverley Hills, but a little less funky and slightly more refined and sedate. I loved it. BUT exactly as others have said, it seems to lack the oversight of an experienced and 'adult' management. All the preppy dressed staff that roam the hotel are very nice and helpful, but there is a fair amount of 'chat' between them (I spent half an hour in the lobby lounge listening to the Concierge complain about previous guests to a gaggle of front desk staff). You would never find this at the Dorchester or other hotels in the group. Its a little like they are using the Bel Air as a training hotel to break-in new staff, as not one of them seemed older than 21. I wanted to move room after being woken really early by a family in the room above mine (a personal bug bear) and this took a little more time and effort than I would have liked. I also had my boarding card faxed twice to the reception as they said they couldn't find it and then promised to run the second copy to the room, which they didn't. When I checked out, they had both copies sitting at the front desk. I know...really minor...but if you are trying to be the best hotel in LA, and part of a really exceptional hotel group, with an amazing hotel on offer...then you have to get this right. Its only a very mild bit of adult supervision required...and I will definitely be heading back....
