“Another great stay at the LA Live”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

I stayed here as part of a convention in January. It is the place to stay for the LA Live area. The front desk staff was very helpful with packages/messages that I had to leave form my colleagues. When I had to print something out in color at 6 AM (the business center didn't open until 8AM and I couldn't wait until then), the front desk staff helped me out.

I had a rental and opted to valet park the car when I checked in. I accidentally left my credit card in the vehicle, which I didn't realize until I was checking in. The gentleman at the front desk tried to chase down my car but the valet had already sped away. When he came back, he still allowed me to check in because I knew the last four digits of the credit card I used to guarantee the room.

I also managed three events while staying at the hotel, and the event services staff went above and beyond to make sure that my events went well. FYI -- if you have an event in their "convention" side of the hotel and need bellman to help you haul items to it, there is a $20 portage fee. Trying to find someone after 10 AM was a bit of a challenge as well.

I dined at LA Market and gLAnce restaurants. Service wasn't the best at the LA Market. I felt rushed through my meal yet ignored at the same time. However, gLAnce was much better and the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and pairings with wine/cocktails.

The downside is the business center, which is not 24 hours. The kiosks they have outside the center are okay for surfing the web and printing out your boarding pass, but if you needed copies and the center was closed, you're out of luck. For a business traveler who has events that don't coincide with the business center hours, this became a challenge. However, the JW staff helped me out when I asked.

I'll definitely stay here again!

I just recently stayed at this hotel. Beautiful hotel! Very friendly front desk staff. We had the executive king room overlooking the staples center as well as the nokia theater. Beautiful room! Love the interior decor, bed was very comfortabe! I would recommend this hotel for anyone who values attention to detail in ensuring guest satisfaction. JW Marriot LA is one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at. I will most definitely make this my primary hotel when staying in the area.

This place is amazing and is truly a luxury hotel. It is comparable with a hotel in Asia. Booked via booking.com and got an amazing rate. Got upgraded to a Junior suite which was spacious.

The suite had a Staples center view in the foyer and a panorama of the LA and the highway in the far distance.

This hotel being brand new has clean amenities and shower had good pressure.

Downside would be no bathtub and valet was quite expensive. Parked at the staples center property which was only few steps away.

It's a 20 mins drive to Universal and 10 mins to Hollywood. Would be excellent for concert or match-goers as it is within the same property.

This is a very nice hotel: the lobby is open and beautiful, there is a roof top pool, the pool bar is large, the gym is great - lots of positives (although I can't figure out why they built the pool in a configuration that it lacks afternoon sun and effectively become a shadowed wind-tunnel by 4pm). If you are staying here for a Staples Center event, it is across the street. As well, during check-in, the platinum upgrade to a large two-room suite never hurts. The bartender at the pool bar was great: a really down to earth guy who was full of good suggestions for drinks and restaurants (as well as opionions on what to avoid).

The only drawback to my stay was that it was clear that my room (968) had somebody smoking in it at some point. The smoky residue just can't be covered up with volumes of perfumed cleaner. I was too busy to switch rooms but it was clear to me and to my friend who ran up from the pool area (first comment: "Man - your room stinks").

This is a fantastic location, great lobby, the best valet parking anywhere. Picking up your car in the lower level on the red carpet is an excellent and efficient idea. All of the attendants were more than willing to speed up the process. 5 stars for that alone.

The Illy coffee shop in the lobby was a wonderful change. Wolfgang Puck's lounge on the 24th floor has a fantastic view of the city and great small plates that satisfy.

Great Hotel, great modern rooms, fast elevators and a great location, close to everything.

Room Tip: I had a standard double-bed room on the 14th floor and have no complaints

My first time here and definitely a great place to stay if you are going to an event at the Staples Center. It's right outside the hotel. The hotel is a very busy place. The lobby is bustling with people and activity so if you are looking for a quiet little place, this is not it. But if you want a place that's very nice, great staff and a great room...this is a great place. Just know you have to valet park...no self parking and it's $40 per day. They were super speedy though when I checked out and needed my car.

Room Tip: Higher floors provide a nice view
