“Kitsch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

It is an anomaly in the city and as far as places to visit for out-of-towners; it's probably the most run-down, crowded, and trashy of all of them. That's where the appeal lies for me though- in the train-wreck aspect of the place. It's the boulevard of broken dreams- if you want to see the dark side of Los Angeles, this is the place!

“a must see although it's just a sidewalk...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

it's a nice walk. we didn't do all of it, just the part close to Hollywood and highland. a bit shame that you can't look for a map or something to find out were a specific star is instead of walking and looking on the floor all the time. the sidewalk is a bit messy but i would expect it from a place so much known for walking... make sure to check on their website if there is a premier or any star ceremony coming soon that you can participate - http://www.walkoffame.com/

“Keep Walking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Best do your research first find out location of the star you looking for as the walk goes for many blocks.IT also goes up VIne ST and outside Capital Records Building. We missed JOhn LEnnon BIrthday rememberance by a day but the tributes were still there.
The tour touts get a bit annoying the people dressing up are not as in your face as the guys trying to sell their CD music
Kind of place you go to once but you won't miss anything if you don't go

“Very Nice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Very clean city and a great place to walk, shop, and eat! Unfortunately, some of the freaky looking/acting people are what take from the enjoyment of this city. Otherwise, it's a great place to visit.

“The walk is interesting if you can get past all the unnecessary stuff elsewhere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

We stayed in a hotel just a little ways north on Highland Avenue not far from the walk of fame. We walked up it a little ways in both directions in day and night to see what stars there were on each stretch. Many reviewers of this attraction seem to hate the place as being "dirty", "run down" or "dangerous", but when you compare this to Compton in South-Central LA, that area is one hundred times worse (although crime is still drastically falling there). Yeah, there are those homeless people around here and yes, this place is crowded, but I have been in Times Square so that hardly matters. Then there are the costumed superheros like Darth Vader, Spider-Man and many others throughout the main block (aside from the stars on the pavement, there is often a mob around them) and there are some sellers that are probably annoying (particularly those on the southwest corner of Hollywood and Highland), but we didn't seem to find things that bad as other reviewers suggest. There is the Hollywood and Highland centre mall located here (the Metro station down below made it convenient for us to get to downtown without driving) which houses the Kodak (now Dolby) Theatre where the Oscars are held. There are also those tacky museums also along here, but the Hollywood Museum just to the south is the best of those; it has some interesting artifacts from classic films (see my seperate review on it for more information). The El Capitan and the Chinese theatre (with all the hand and footprints) are also located here. Toronto has the Canada Walk of Fame which is very similar to this one (it has names on stars in the pavement), but is not a heavy tourist area like this, since the Hollywood Walk of Fame is the more famous of these streets.
