You can grow a beard waiting!
Honestly, no food in this world is worth waiting for 1.5hrs on the grungy sidewalk where young people chain-smoked, jabbered endlessly on their phones or chattered and cackled idly.
To minimize the agony of waiting, we put our names on their waiting list and strolled around
Little Tokyo. When we returned 30mins. later, our names only moved up 3 spots!
Daikokuya may have been good at one time but now they are overwhelmed, understaffed, way too small to adequately serve the public. The place was dark, crammed, noisy, the hostess and wait staff stressed, the food the deepest disappointment. Even I, an ordinary home-maker who cooks from scratch everyday can whip up tastier meals.
The Spicy Miso I ordered was way inferior to that of Santouka Ramen in Centinela Ave. & Venice Blvd. My fiancee agreed that Daikokuya has slipped terribly. You can't relax and enjoy your food with other hungry customers hovering inches from your table - very unpleasant.
