Recommended by a colleague, Cafe Zorro is located in the town of Loomis, about 23 miles northeast of Sacramento. It's in a rather dingy strip mall and is a family owned neighborhood style restaurant. No ambience to speak of, and the decibel level way up there. My wife thought her Caesar was "one of the best she's ever had," nice croutons, and plenty of garlic. The summer tasting salad consisted of a small caprese salad (3 slices of tomato and mozzarella, but oddly no basil), literally two spoons of gazpacho, and a few fried zucchini chips. The olive bread, which we had to ask for, was quite tasty. Our lasagna was a generous portion, which was good, but certainly not great. It could have been a little more spicy and more moist. Wine selections local and rather pedestrian. At $30 a piece, the price was right, but overall, we felt the place was OK, but nothing special, and we doubt if we would drive out there again for just above average food and zip ambience.
