We had not been to Panama Joes for quite a while (not wild about the food) but we'd heard the menu was updated and the food quite good. Bottom line: go for the drinks and maybe some appetizers. If you want a good meal, there are better options. Can't recommend the chips and salsa. Salsa is bland and the chips are thick and cold and not crispy or very crunchy. Maybe we got a bad batch. Server recommended the ceviche starter. I love a good ceviche but this wasn't it. The fish was very chewy; tasted okay (not great) but all in all not a pleasant dish. The fajitas were also highly recommended but not very good. The chicken was tough and chewy and the fajita vegetables were almost nonexistent - just a bit of onion and bell pepper. Rice was hard and crunchy. Refried beans rich and creamy but so bland they almost didn't taste like beans. My husband had a steak burrito that was okay - like all the other meat the steak was tough and chewy. Service was phenomenal - pleasant and attentive. Too bad the food isn't up to par. Margaritas were very good; we'll go back for a drink and to try a different appetizer.
