“Nice location-ok hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

This hotel is within walking distance of the Convention Center and the free shuttle stops that will take you all around Long Beach. The room was clean, but laid out strangely. The bathroom door was right next to the bed and the sink area was by the front door. The pool was very small and there was no free breakfast offered. But it was only $85 per night, so it was adequate. On the night of our stay there were helicopters flying overhead every five minutes, rather disturbing.

Room Tip: The floors in the hallway are concrete. There are balconies facing the parking lot on the upper floo...

The front desk staff was very friendly and accomodating with info and arranged for me to park in their over crowded lot on a sat nite.Paid one twenty three incl room/taxes
Swimmimg pool was smaller than some jacuzzis I've been in, but what do I expect for a front street hotel. Mexican Restaurant on premises was almost always empty...
Shower in room was dirty especially shower curtain had what looked like a bugger on it.
Bed cover made me itch...
Didn't tell front desk dont want low paid help getting in trouble.Just want out of here and paying the extra fifty for a better hotel next time.
Plusses: Mini Fridge, Helpful Staff!!! Walking distance to Pine St Bar Restaurant area just 3 blocks!!!

Room Tip: Maybe have staff check out room with you before you commit if that's possible?

I was told by Travelodge's central reservations person this hotel was "two blocks" from the convention center. What were they told???!!! This hotel is nearly half a mile from the convention center. The outside of the hotel is depressing. The rooms (I had to check in and out three times) were okay, but the bottom of the bathtub was dark gray. Parking was nonexistent on some evenings and I was forced to park on the street at least two blocks away. The employees were accommodating. The best thing about this hotel is that it's located one block away from a very nice grocery store and close to some really good restaurants. But, I will never stay there again!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Stayed here for a conference at the convention centre. The convention center is about 10-15 minutes walk away, so it's pretty convenient. The first room I was put in was right next to the ice machine and the drinks machine, so I spent much of the first night being woken up by regular loud clunks. To the credit of the staff, they happily moved me to a different room which was much quieter.

The rooms themselves are ok - beds are comfortable and its reasonably clean. This is good because the walk to your room makes you feel like you are going through a minimum security prison. Also, all the rooms seem to have the default air conditioning units for this kind of hotel - i.e. so loud you'd never be able to sleep with it on.

There's also a nice little mexican restaurant on the same premises, where the barman was happy to serve me a beer even though they were officially closed.

Room Tip: Having a room near the elevator on the ground floor will mean you are subjected to very noisy drinks...

We lost $102 for an hour of misery in a dirty room looking desperately for other options. The room smelled of vomit and cigerettes although is was labeled as non smoking, and the carpet was sticky. When we found another place to stay we went and told them and they STILL charged us even though we were there for literally an hour. DON'T stay here ... Yuck!!

It isn't 2 blocks away from the convention center more like a 10 minute brisk walk 15-20 minute stroll. The window into the open courtyard means you can hear all the noise in the hallways which was plenty for me. There were really inconsiderate people talking in the hallways until 3:00 am and then dribbling basketballs at 6:00 am and I heard it all. Also the room was supposed to be nonsmoking but my room had a definite smell nothing that a $4 can of Lysol from the Vons a block away didn't fix. New fixtures in the room were nice including "marble" top counters and table

There's a nice Mexican restaurant downstairs that's reasonably priced and a ton of good local restaurants a block away on Broadway.

Despite the name, this Travelodge is not near the Convention Center. It is about 7 blocks away (almost a kilometer). There are many closer and better places to stay.
The good points about this place are as follows:
- There is a large supermarket one block east.
- Cleaning staff are very good. The place is very clean and relatively well maintained.
- The bed linens were comfortable and clean.
- There is a good little restaurant attached to the hotel.
- Lots of plants and flowers are planted around the hotel.
- The staff made an effort to make sure my stay was good. The desk fellow phoned before I left - because the convention was over there was going to be a huge demand on taxis the next morning and he was trying to double up people so they all got to the airport on time. Very good service!
The bad points are:
- The Travelodge is in the transition zone from a higher quality area to a more run down part of the city. If you want to check in at night, you either have to have the person in the office let you in the locked door or use the "security window" and pass your credit card through the little trough....... This suggests they are having a tough time with security in that neighborhood. I did get panhandled several times in that area.
- I found a "silver fish" bug in the room. No evidence of cockroaches or bed bugs at all.
-The internet was impossibly weak to be almost non existent.
-The pool is very small, more to say they have one than to be effective.
- The lighting is very dim on the hallways which are all made of concrete.

Room Tip: The rooms on the ends are quieter.
