“Enjoyed The Queen Mary Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014 via mobile

I enjoyed my stay very much, you could feel the history. The service was very good, the room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant choices were good and the food was very good. Only issue was we arrived around 5pm on Tuesday and the exhibits and tours were closed for the day. We had to leave too early the next day.

My wife and I stayed for one night, on our visit to California. It was centrally located, to where we were visiting, and the AAA rates were very reasonable.

We had never visited the area before and thought it would be a unique place to stay. We were absolutely correct! Loved everything about it! It has such history and style. The whole ship just feels special. The room was perfect. Not too big and not too small. The working portholes and view of the harbor were a nice touch. Sure things are dated and might look like they need some TLC, but that is part of the charm. Everything was clean, the service at the restaurants was great, and the food was very good too.

We didn't do any tours, as we prefer to wander on our own. I think the tours would be nice for people who enjoy that type off thing.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up back again, the next night, since we had no previous plans to stay at another location. This time the room was a bit bigger, and felt even more grand. It is hard to imagine the feeling of being on something with such history, without actually experiencing it for yourself. I assure you, if you are a history buff, and enjoy ships, this is a home run.

We certainly will be back if our travels lead us to Long Beach again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a water view and operating portholes.

Stayed here three nights. Rooms are spacious, and the king-size beds are comfortable. Restaurant and shop prices are very reasonable, and the quality of the food served is very good. Service was exceptionally good and friendly. We very much enjoyed high tea in the Tea Room, and drinks in the Observation Bar were exceptionally well prepared. All in all a delightful experience.

It sounds nice to stay on a famous ship like the Queen Mary, but you can visit the ship without booking a cabin. Of course the cabine looked different on their website, but so much?. Let's be honest, a regular room at one of the motelchains offer more luxery. The ship lies at a place where nothing is going on. When you want to have the dinner you can eat at the ship, which is overpriced in my opinion, or you can take your car and find a nice restaurant in long beach. Wrapping it all up, for me, the Queen Mary was a tourist trap.

Thanks for the feedback...and we apologize for the confusion. In addition to all of the restaurant and bars, tours and attractions aboard the ship, we also host numerous special events - concerts, live music, festivals etc. In addition, there is a FREE RED PASSPORT bus that can take you to the Pike and Downtown Long Beach where there are tons of restaurants and bars. Trapped - not so much...tourist trap? Not at all. :)

We hope to have you aboard the ship again soon!

Our stay was wonderful and the people was very helpful and well informed , food was delicious we ate at two of the three resturants , we just took the video tour it was great and we took our time so much to see, husband had a great birthday and it is a wonderful ship and the history is amazing. If the walls could only talk, oh what a tale.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 411 and it was very quiet and the view was BEAUTIFUL.

We found the ship to be charming and unique. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We did find that the noise level of voices and TV from adjoining rooms was high.
The overall experience was fun and a wonderful step back in time.

My stay was very enjoyable except for the one night, Thursday, Aug. 14th, when a man and two ladies arrived in the room next to mine at 12:45am drunker than everything and being very loud until 4:00am they finally settled down. I could hear every word they were saying, and one of the ladies couldn't find the restroom. She kept saying she needed to pee and would try the door that was connected to my room (which was locked). They talked about all the sex partners they have had over the years. I should have called the desk, but I figured there weren't anything you could have done. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay. I was with the Shaklee Global Conference.

Thanks for the feedback - apologies on the noisy neighbors - you know they call the Queen Mary the ship of romance.
