“Delightful experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here three nights. Rooms are spacious, and the king-size beds are comfortable. Restaurant and shop prices are very reasonable, and the quality of the food served is very good. Service was exceptionally good and friendly. We very much enjoyed high tea in the Tea Room, and drinks in the Observation Bar were exceptionally well prepared. All in all a delightful experience.

It sounds nice to stay on a famous ship like the Queen Mary, but you can visit the ship without booking a cabin. Of course the cabine looked different on their website, but so much?. Let's be honest, a regular room at one of the motelchains offer more luxery. The ship lies at a place where nothing is going on. When you want to have the dinner you can eat at the ship, which is overpriced in my opinion, or you can take your car and find a nice restaurant in long beach. Wrapping it all up, for me, the Queen Mary was a tourist trap.

Thanks for the feedback...and we apologize for the confusion. In addition to all of the restaurant and bars, tours and attractions aboard the ship, we also host numerous special events - concerts, live music, festivals etc. In addition, there is a FREE RED PASSPORT bus that can take you to the Pike and Downtown Long Beach where there are tons of restaurants and bars. Trapped - not so much...tourist trap? Not at all. :)

We hope to have you aboard the ship again soon!

Our stay was wonderful and the people was very helpful and well informed , food was delicious we ate at two of the three resturants , we just took the video tour it was great and we took our time so much to see, husband had a great birthday and it is a wonderful ship and the history is amazing. If the walls could only talk, oh what a tale.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 411 and it was very quiet and the view was BEAUTIFUL.

We found the ship to be charming and unique. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We did find that the noise level of voices and TV from adjoining rooms was high.
The overall experience was fun and a wonderful step back in time.

My stay was very enjoyable except for the one night, Thursday, Aug. 14th, when a man and two ladies arrived in the room next to mine at 12:45am drunker than everything and being very loud until 4:00am they finally settled down. I could hear every word they were saying, and one of the ladies couldn't find the restroom. She kept saying she needed to pee and would try the door that was connected to my room (which was locked). They talked about all the sex partners they have had over the years. I should have called the desk, but I figured there weren't anything you could have done. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay. I was with the Shaklee Global Conference.

Thanks for the feedback - apologies on the noisy neighbors - you know they call the Queen Mary the ship of romance.

If your into history or ghosts check this place out. Spent a Saturday night here and had a blast. The rooms are on the small size but people were smaller in the 1930's. We booked through expedia and it was only $100 for the night. The noise from other cabins can sometimes get a lil annoying but it doesn't take away from a great experience staying in a piece of history. D-Day was planned and the order signed on the ship. The Ghost Encounters tour is awesome. You get to check out some of the off limits areas of the ship, like the first class swimming pool. The Ghosts and Legends tour is more like a spooky house, fun but kinda cheesy. And the Behind the Scenes tour is also well worth it. All of the guides were great. They really took an interest in the ship and they knew everything.

There are three restaurants on the ship. Two pricey 4 and 5 star joints and a cafe. Dress code for the 5 star joint, St. Winstons, but not for the 4 star spot. We went with the cafe which was ok, but really just the room service food in a dining room. But you are across the street from a bunch of great restaurants so you've got lots of choices.

I had a great time and some interesting experiences, but I'll definitely be back.

This wasn't my first stay on the Queen Mary. Years ago I stayed on business and really didn't have a chance to enjoy the ship but this time I made sure to enjoy and explore. Check in went smoothly and front desk staff was gracious. The room was clean and bed comfortable. We ate at the Pomanade Cafe twice and the food was great plus enjoyed the observation lounge for an evening drink. During the day we got tickets for the Princess Diana exhibit and I was very impressed on the presentation. Worth the price of admission. Give yourself a treat and stay on this fine lady.

Room Tip: Highly suggest bringing a pair of ear plugs since at least in our room the fan ran all night. Fortu...
