“Great stay on the ship”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Staying on the ship was great. There was so much to do and see. The rooms were nice and comfortable. Bed was a little hard, but overall was good. Loved the old style of the rooms and service was good. Would definitely stay there again.

The Queen Mary is a step back in time. From the wood paneled hallways and rooms to the art deco bar, it is a glorious experience. My kids and I stayed for 3 nights. The bed was fluffy and comfortable; the room actually had a side room that my teen grabbed up - enough room for a twin bed and plenty of shoes and clothes. Some of the elements of the original room are still in place for ambiance- an old electric fan, the heating and cooling system, etc. Our room had two port holes which were cool, too.
check in was easy, and I appreciated the free long distance calls and wi fi.
Nothing negative about the stay at all.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrades and how many beds

My husband and I had a great mini vacation on the Queen Mary. Service was great, the food was great, the tour we took was very informative. We totally enjoyed ourselves. We can not wait to go back. We had a Harbor view from our room that was breath taking.

Room Tip: Room facing the Harbor have a fantastic view

I loved the Queen Mary Hotel. We had to change rooms due to some minor details but overall it was great. We had a deluxe room with the bay view. The room was comfortable, filled with antique furniture and books. I love the wood paneling around the ship and the historic, elegant hallways. There are wonderful places to see on the ship. You must see the engine room and the Princess Diana exhibition. There was an Art Deco weekend going on during our stay and I enjoyed the costumes and talking to people attending the event. I had a wonderful time visiting Queen Mary.

Room Tip: Rooms with bay views are great.

Thanks for the feedback and LUCKY YOU! Great timing staying aboard the ship while we were hosting our annual Art Deco Festival. We had many guests dressed up in garb from that era - it definitely added to the ambiance of this ship!

And the Princess Diana exhibit is fantastic...can't wait for that Naomi Watts flick to come out in November...going to be EPIC!

We cannot wait to host you again soon!

One of my husbands dreams was to stay on the Queen Mary. I was checking it out for his birthday and saw online that the Los Angeles Art Deco Society 9th annual event was being held his birthday weekend, Labor Day weekend. The ability to enjoy the Queen Mary's history during a weekend of vintage dress and events was amazing. We truly felt as though we had gone back in time and enjoyed every moment. The Art Deco events included a ball and tea with fabulous food and dancing with wonderful live music, great lectures, movies and more. Beyond the Art Deco events the Queen Mary is an amazing historical place. We spent time touring the boat and learning about its luxury liner days and WWII Gray Ghost years. We enjoyed the different restaurants and felt the staff was very helpful. The hotel room was a king room and did not have lots of room but then it is a historic boat. It is an amazing piece of history that I hope will be treasured for years to come.

Room Tip: I did not know to ask for a room which had more of the historic wood and other features but would pr...

Staying on the Queen Mary was one of the most fun places that I have ever stayed. The rooms are beautiful with the detailed wood Art Deco style- much larger than any cruise ship today. The restaurants are great, and have a nice view. There is a lot to see and learn by exploring the decks and learning of the rich history this ship has. Make sure that you schedule some time each day just for exploring - more than you would in a traditional hotel.

And yes - Trip Advisor Folks - definitely leave some time for exploring...that is the most fun part of exploring the ship - just walking around. So many decks to explore!

Staying on the Queen Mary is an experience - it's something different and it's nice to glimpse into bygone times. Whilst elements of the grandeur remain it is definitely past it's heyday and it lacks the atmosphere it probably once had. Most elements are average. That said the price is right and I guess the offer is pitched in a way that ensures people can afford a visit and the ship continues to exist. I would suggest to potential travellers that's it's worth a stay for the experience and to keep the ship alive. Pay a little more and stay in a suite with wood panelling and quirky fixtures and fittings.

Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you enjoyed your stay...I think you are right - its something to put on the bucket list. Also - take a look at our website and look up our conservation management plan - to get an idea of the process the staff goes through in preserving this historic beacon of a lost era.
