The RMS Queen Mary is one of the most unique “hotels” in the world. Yes, this great ship has been stationary since 1968, but you feel like you’re on a real ocean crossing. The restaurants and shops are first rate. This experience truly transports you to the Golden Age of travel. I know a great deal about ocean liners, but I found the tour very informative. The rooms are a bit small compared to conventional hotels, but are furnished with modern amenities.

Room Tip: The walls are somewhat thin. I suggest requesting a cabin towards the stern of the ship.

This was the year my wife and I were thinking about going on a cruise. But my son decided to get married, and not in Oregon, but in Arizona. Since we decided to drive to AZ, I wanted to mak it up to my wife a little bit but making a slight detour to Long Beach and stay one night on the Queen Mary. The classic lines of this ship is jus wonderful. Our room was oddly laid out and on the port side. But we liked the room with its rich woodwork. The Bathroom was very small. We watched the Solar Eclipse occur at the front of the ship. We had dinner breakfast and lunch on board. Meals were good, and great service. Overall we enjoyed it. adly we did nt have enough time to take a full tour of the boat and the submarine parked next to it. Maybe next time.

We spent one night on the Queen Mary in June 2012 while in Long Beach area. We had such fun experiencing this ship. Our hotel room had a porthole so we were able to watch the boat traffic as it went by and always love having fresh air. We sat on deck and ordered a drink and experienced this adventure with other family members. Would stay here again! Staff was friendly and before we left we also checked out the engine room. Lots to experience...

The Queen Mary is now 78 years old and I was expecting this to show in some tiredness in its (converted) hotel accommodation, but I was quite wrong. The ship looks marvellous and all credit to the staff (and not forgetting the British designers and builders!) who maintain it inside and out, so it looks so good.

Our deluxe stateroom was the most comfortable room we had during our road trip and had many lovely period features, but also modern conveniences such as wifi (for a fee) and
LCD TV.

As guests, you have a surprising amount of freedom to explore the ship and you can really get a feel for what it must have been like in its heyday, helped by lots of framed prints around the vessel. There is a good choice of restaurants and bars on board too and we enjoyed our meals at the Promenade Restaurant The staff of the Queen Mary were unfailingly helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending it - it's not cheap, but offers a unique experience.

I'm actually staying here now.

It's isolated from the rest of Long Beach and the best transit option is Long Beach's poor "Passport Shuttle" which has morphed from a tourist friendly hot-spot hopper into the free ride of choice for Long Beach's many downtrodden. To get from the QM to the rental car place on Ocean at Magnolia, I had to ride through a terrible neighborhood on the Passport while vagabonds boarded and disembarked with their worldly belongings.

The ship is old but cozy and charming in a way. But the service is horrible. They don't have separate entrances for the hotel and the attractions (ripoff) people attend onboard, so every time you enter you get "carded". You can't believe the nasty response I got when I first didn't understand what I was being asked for. You get a real sense that the employees think you're lucky to be staying here so shut up and enjoy yourself.

The walls are paper-thin, they charge for Wi-Fi, there's no thermostats in the room and there are few outlets. I get that this is not exactly a business travelers destination but charging $50 a week for Wi-Fi?

And not for nothing but it's hard as hell to find your way around this ship. They have almost no signage for the fitness center or other amenities. I don't think there's a pool but who knows, I'm tired of asking ever-exasperated employees how to get places.

You know, at an enterprise that would have been belly-up a dozen times in it's history (and probably currently) without constant transfusions from the city's taxpayers, you'd think the sense of entitlement among it's employees might be replaced by a sense of gratitude. It hasn't.

I did get a very good price at a popular online travel site, but frankly it wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the feedback on the city of Long Beach! Actually, the city has done a great job of cleaning up the downtown area and the PIKE and the Red Passport - FREE TO USE - is great for tourists and travelers alike. Many staffers use it regularly and do not have any issues. My advice - don't just a book by its cover.

Really disappointed you were not happy with any of our exciting tours and attractions - from Diana: Legacy of a Princess exhibit, to our historic and ghost tours, to the Submarine, to all of our special events - there are so many fun things to do.

WIFI is included in your facilities fee of $14.95, which includes:

• Audio tours of the ship
• Children’s scavenger hunt
• WIFI
• Access to the fitness center
• 50% off of select guided tours and attraction tickets
• A portion of the facilities fee will be used for the restoration and preservation of the Queen Mary.

We do apologize for the noise - we have complementary ear plugs for guests that might experience any noise issues.

We stayed here for the 4th of July celebration.. it was fantastic! I'd like to address some of the things said..

1. The only smell on the ship is food and the expensive one of a kind wood that they used. There is no weird smell.

2. You can truly hear EVERYTHING in the halls and rooms and there are some strange ship noises at night that are loud and rumble. There is a noise policy that if they have to tell you to be quiet a second time you will be fined $250. Even though it was a holiday, the ship was silent at 11pm. It was so strange how quiet.

2. The bathtub in our room was deep and narrow so I almost fell several times in the shower because my feet didn't stand straight. Our friends room did not have the same tub and it was wider for standing.

3. Be prepared to walk A LOT of stairs. the elevators only go so far, or they overshoot so you have to walk back down a little.

4. This ship is not, I repeat NOT handicap/stroller accessible. There are too many required stairs.

We had a package for the 4th that had us in a deluxe first class cabin. The room was amazing! We were port side so our room had a great hallway and vanity area and 2 porthole windows. Lighting was strange, but it was authentic. It caused dark shadowing for trying to put on makeup (girl thing) lol. Our friends were harbor side so they had a larger bed area and a sitting space with only 1 porthole. We were on M deck..

They had more then double the population expected for the holiday and we made a mistake not reserving a table at one of the upscale restaurants. They host this party for anyone, you don't have to be a hotel guest. For a fee you can traverse the boat and leave when you want. We ended up waiting 4 hours for The Promenade Cafe dinner. They were honestly that busy!! It was tasty.. no issues with anything. We had breakfast with them in the morning and it was delicious! My friend had Eggs Benedict and they were so perfect it looked like a magazine picture!

I would gladly do this again. I believe we are for Halloween! Sooooo excited for Ghost Hunting!!

Lots of history here. Very neat place to stay! I've stayed here every year for several years &the have always enjoyed it!
