“It's not a destination, but it's a great base from which to see Long Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2012

and a very clean and comfortable one at that. So, if you don't plan on spending your time out in the community, you might want to look for another place to hang your hat. My wife and I, however, found the Laguna Beach room to be more than adequate to our needs, with one of the most comfortable beds I've encountered in years, a private bath, and a standard definition television with access to more channels than I could skim in an hour. Note: if you travel with more than a couple would carry onto an aircraft, the room could get a bit crowded.

Breakfast, which included hot and cold items, ranged from good to very good, and was available early enough for the days we had to be somewhere and late enough for the days we chose to sleep in a bit. The beach is only blocks away.

The inn is located about mid-way between downtown and the fashionable Belmont Shore area along 2d St and Naples Island. I've been to LB 3 times since the first of the year and this was far and away the best location I've found.

If one of the other reviewer's reference to neighborhoods he traversed on the way to the inn makes you nervous, it's readily accessible from the north by way of the 405 and 710 to dowtwon, then south on Ocean Blvd., by way of the 405 to Redondo west to Broadway, or from the south by way of the Pacific Coast Highway to Broadway. (I found no reason to be concerned about my travels through any of the neighborhoods through which one might travel to reach the inn.)

WiFi functioned well throughout our stay.

As others have noted, parking is free, though around the corner.

Room Tip: The Laguna Beach room is toward the rear and on the opposite side of the house from Broadway, a main...

“It was like staying with family -- which is not why I chose a B&B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

So, you know that feeling you get when you get to your accommodations and you ask your wife, "So, what do you think?" and your wife says "It's fine" or "Its OK." Well, that would describe my wife's reaction when we got there and summarizes our stay at the Beachrunners Inn in Long Beach.

We love the charm, quaintness and comfort of a B&B. The Beachrunners Inn is none of these. It is clean, neat and in a good location -- but you have to drive through a pretty gritty area of Long Beach to get there. The rooms are small but functional. But, you better like your room a lot because you'll be "confined" there when at the Inn. We felt as if we were visiting family with the exception of not having access to anywhere but our room.

Speaking of family, the Beachrunner Inn is a family owned business. Pat, the owner, and her daughter Courtney couldn't be more charming. They try hard to please their guests and make themselves available. It soon became clear to us that the extended family lives there and it is their house and the guests are secondary. The three generations of the family, including grandkids, have the run of the ground floor so don't even try and enjoy the living room, sit quietly and read, watch TV or be out of your 100 square foot room. We could have stayed at my brother's and had more freedom to move about the house with the difference we would have gotten a good breakfast and probably wine and cheese in the afternoon. Some may find this arrangement quaint. We won't be back. In fact, perhaps we'll stay at my brother's. It'll certainly be cheaper.

Room Tip: The Beachrunners Inn is on a busy corner with a lot of street noise. Get a room not facing Broadway...

“The Beachrunner's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

I found the Beachrunner's to be quite welcoming and spotless, as well as a perfect walking distance from the nearby beach. It helped that the weather was awesome. My room, the Long Beach, was small as the place is an older home, which can be expected, I guess; however it was quite well-appointed and the Beachrunner's has their own parking nearby if you can't find any on the street, which is the norm in L.A. I enjoyed meeting Pat and her daughter Courtney , the innkeepers, as well as their kids the next day. I am NOT an early riser so I missed the main breakfast which I have heard was great, there was some stuff left over like fresh berries when I got up, I just went into the kitchen and got myself some with coffee and found some Fig Newtons among the snacks to go. Long Beach in general is so nice now that I have really enjoyed the last couple of times I have been there. Shoreline Village is great, eat around the Marina like at somehwere like the Yard House asI did and walk around a lot before or after. There's a lighthouse that changes colors at night and a lot of other things to see and do there. Enjoy your trip!

“Great place to stay in Long Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011 via mobile

The location is great. Two blocks from the beach and a quick drive to downtown and the pier area. The home cooked breakfast is very good. Parking is free and close. My room was small bit did fine. There is no a/c so it was a little warm when going to bed. I would stay here again.

“Intimate & Visitor Focused”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

Pat is the Innkeeper of Long Beach! I made reservations requiring extra consideration for my parents -- and she exceeded all expectations--according to my parents! Pat's hospitality and attention to detail set the stage for a very positive 4 day visit. Mom and Paul stated, "we'll be visit Long Beach again and we will only stay at the Beachrunner!"
