You can trust the online photos. Great, bright modern lobby. Nice, spacious, clean guest rooms- many with impressive water views from private patio or balcony. The bathrooms are on the small side and don't have a lot of counter space. I recommend requesting a room with a view of the Queen Mary (building 2). Small private beach on the property, nice pool area with a great harbor view. My husband and I attended a wedding at the hotel, enabling us to take advantage of a group deal at $189/night. We do agree that any rate over $250/night is overpriced. The hotel boasts a super convenient shuttle boat ($1 per trip) that loops around the harbor, making several stops, including the Acquarium and The Queen Mary. With easy access to several Long Beach sites, you don't ever have to get behind the wheel of your car while you're staying at The Hotel Maya.
