“Outstanding service - Perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I booked this hotel for a last minute business trip and loved it. From the moment I arrived the service was great. I was given a complimentary upgrade to the King Suite room (716). The front desk employee (Dan) was very friendly and helpful. The room I was in was room 716 at it was great - very spacious, very well laid out, great large walk in shower, closet, and the bed - OMG - the bed was so incredible ( the sheets were the softest ) and the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to leave it the next morning. When I checked in, Dan, told me about the view (looks at the parking lot) but this was not a problem for me at all. The location at The Pike is awesome - close to theater, restaurants, and shopping. The only down side for some may be the parking - which is across the street at the main parking structure - the rate is $7.00 per day - which I thought was very inexpensive for the location. They did say they are working on a valet parking which would be nice for some guests. I also recommend the rooftop view - beautiful view of the Queen Mary. As a female traveling alone on this trip - I thought the hotel felt very safe - I really like the fact that the elevator would only work with your room key - so only guests could access rooms. This Hyatt also has a pre- post cruise package with parking for guests going on a cruise. I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency and I think this boutique hotel is every bit as nice. I loved the service - how employees greeted me as I entered/ exited the property. I noticed they looked you in the eye - smiled and greeted me. Love this attention to detail. Keep up the great work... Highly recommend!

“Almost a perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

There are two Hyatt hotels in Long Beach. They are so close to one another that you can actually see the other one from each hotel. One of them is the Hyatt Regency, a big conference hotel. The other one is the Hyatt at the Pike – much smaller hotel with a boutique feeling to it. However, as the Hyatt at the Pike is a new name (after Hyatt bought Avia), it caused a lot of consternation with our shuttle driver who really did not know where the hotel is, despite giving him direct instructions.
However, this was only one of two minor problems we’ve experienced in the hotel. Otherwise it was as close to a perfect stay as it could be. We were welcomed to the hotel warmly by the front desk and assigned out suite even though it was before the official check in time, and the hotel seemed to be full the day before.
We have used Hyatt's upgrade certificate to ensure an upgrade to a suite. The hotel does not have real suites but only junior suites which was big enough and comfortable for our one-night stay. The room did not have a bath but had a big rain shower and a (relatively) large bathroom.
The hotel is situated close to a small shopping and dinging mall and within short walking distance (albeit uphill) to the main entertainment street in Long Beach. That said, it is on a quiet part, and noise was never a problem during our stay.
Breakfast was included for Diamond members (up to a certain dollar amount). The choices are plentiful and include many regional dishes. The service was warm and hospitable. There was a mistake in crediting the breakfast charge into the final bill, but it was removed quickly and without any hassle.
All in all, it was almost a perfect one-night stay could be. After staying in the Hyatt Regency as well, would definitely stay in the Hyatt at the Pike again over the Regency (despite the Regency Club). The Hyatt at the Pike h a soul, much to do with its wonderful employees and the unique design.

“So modern with all the right touches.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012 via mobile

Modern and chic hotel. Fantastic rain shower and the bed was just the best, staff were great and the location is superb.
It was a quick walk to the harbor and all the action.
I will stay here again on my next trip to Long Beach.

“Great hotel and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Great hotel - very large room, and an amazingly big shower with large rainshower head. Very comfortable bed. The front desk service was great, other than the bell boy's slackness in checking the hotel's mailbox for my delivery (ended up spending an hour at the post office accusing them of losing my package when it had in fact been delivered). There's car parking at the Pike Car Park for around $10 per day. The wi-fi is ok... not particularly fast though.

Room Tip: If you book direct with the hotel you can opt for an upgrade at a very small price.

“Great times for the family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We have stayed here two different times now and it is a top notch hotel. Seems a little pricer in the lounge now that it is run by the Hyatt though. $7 for a bottled beer was a bit out of my price range. Luckily there are a couple close restaurants nearby that have happy hours.
