“Hiking Mount Whitney In A Day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Good base-location to hike Mount Whitney in a day. Close to town center without the added noise. High desert and alpine mountains environments within 30 minutes of each other. Great gateway into the Eastern Sierras. Close to Horseshoe Meadows, Cottonwood Lakes/Pass trails, Mt. Langley and the grand-daddy Mount Whitney!

This is more expensive than the Dow Motel, which is in the center of Lone Pine. You have to drive from the Best Western to get into town to eat or walk around. But that aside, the receptionist was rather surly and snappy. Not keen on answering questions about the area. My room smelled strongly of bleach or chlorine; I had to open the windows and door for a couple of hours to air it out. There were nasty stains on the curtains - possibly grease. And as others have said, the air conditioning unit is very noisy indeed - both yours and your neighbors' on each side of you if they have theirs on. The walls are rather thin - I could hear the neighbors TV quite clearly (when the air conditioner was off!). Beds were comfortable, lots of towels and toiletries provided. Rooms are very spacious indeed. Furniture is attractive wood. Parking is easy, outside each room with plenty of space on each side. I'll try somewhere else next time I stay in Lone Pine.

Convenient for Mt Whitney. Room comfortable but the aircom unbelievably noisy which is a bit tough for a very hot night. Breakfast is OK but a bit of a scrum perhaps because everyone staying seemed to turn up at the same time.

Very nice motel, spacious, clean and fully equipped rooms. A hearty breakfast is included and is served from 5 in the morning, which is very suitable for those who want to go hiking in the mountains. There is an outdoor swimming pool, which makes the stay very pleasant, especially after a busy day in the Sierra Nevada or in a hot Dead Valley. The town of Lone Pine is the starting point for mountain hikes in the picturesque Sierra Nevada and even on top of Mt. Whitney, the tallest peak in the lower 48 states of the USA.

This motel delivers more than you'd expect in a motel! Extremely clean and maintained. Basic family friendly motel with a pool and fantastic mountain views. Overlooks mount Whitney - excellent location if driving near Death Valley. Good free breakfast set us up for the day! Would recommend.

We stayed here after our visit to Death Valley. We planned to visit Manzanar NHS the next day so it was in a good location. The room was clean although the bathroom was a little small and dated. The beds were comfortable. The AC unit was noisy and every time it kicked on, it made a lot of noise.
Our room had a back door which had a covered porch w/ table & 2 chairs. It was just an open field but it had a wonderful view of the Sierra Nevada Mtn.
The breakfast was in the lobby bldg and it was surprisingly good. They had tables outside near the outdoor pool so we had our breakfast out there w/ a view of the mountains. There was seating inside the bldg too but why would you want to eat in there when you had such a nice view outside?

This was a very wonderful motel. The staff were very helpful. The room was large and very clean. The laundry facilities were nice to have but could use a coin changer. I would recommend this motel to all of my friends.
