“Good place to stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

The staff was polite, the room was clean. The wi fi service worked well. The breakfast was good. There is a nice view of the Sierras from the lawn. This a convenient place to stop on your way up and down 395 or to Death Valley.

Having once lived in Lone Pine years ago, I want to revisit my past. Debbie's late husband was born in Southen Inyo Hospital. I choose Frontier Motel because I knew Ray Powell when I lived in Lone Pine and knew he created a great place to stay. We will be seeing old friends and staying two days. Sure look forward to old west hospitality in this wonderful motel in Owens Valley.

Room Tip: Ask for a view room of Mt. Whitney.

This hotel was a welcome reward at the end of a long day of driving. The staff was courteous and efficient. The room was very large, clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and quiet. In the morning there was a terrific breakfast (included in the room price) served in a very comfortable breakfast room that is decorated with TV and movie memorabilia from the many movies and televisions shows that have been filmed in the area over the years. Lone Pine is a great location from which to explore the lower Owens Valley, visit the Manzanar Relocation Center Historical site from WW Two, or drive to Death Valley. The price was very resonable as well. I don't think you will find a better small hotel in that part of California.

Hotel was good for a one night stop. Huge rooms and parking right outside. Desk staff friendly. Breakfast OK though didn't like paper plates and plastic cutlery. It's a bit of a walk to the main part of the town where there are a number of reasonable restaurants and bars. Views of the mountains fantastic and right on the doorstep for visiting Death Valley and the Alabamas. No time to use the pool but do visit the movie museum - it's a gem

We were very happy with our stay in this motel before our journey into Death Valley. We were made very welcome by the girl at the front desk from the very start even though we had arrived quite late.

The room was very spacious and comfortable and the parking was very handy. The breakfast really set us up for the day - perfect if you're making the long trek through Death Valley that day.

Overall, this motel is exactly what you need if Death Valley is on your itinerary.

This is our fourth stay at this hotel either on our way to or from Lake Tahoe. It is very clean, quite, good breakfast, helpful staff and in the parking lot a beautiful view of Mt. Whitney. We have never used the pool because of the times of year we have visited but it looks inviting. They recommended visting the Old West Film Museum and it was great. Can't believe how many westerns (and non-westerns) were filmed in the hills around Lone Pine. Would recommend the hotel with confidence.

Room Tip: Further back is always a little quieter but I have stayed in four different locations and never had...

A good value motel with spacious rooms. Bed very comfortable. Great views of the mountains. Breakfast is OK, mini cheesy omelettes are tasty, good coffee. Avoid the 8am rush :-)
Lone Pine has a buzzy high street - good to walk up and down to stretch our legs after a long drive.
