My wife and I had the pleasure to stay at the Dow Villa over the Christmas Holidays 2002. The Dow also has a modern Motel, but Susan and I enjoy the ambiance of the 1800s Hotel. It has been almost completely redone with modeern fixtures and accessories, but maintains the feel of its nineteenth century heritage. The rooms are comfortable and in the cold winter night, the steam radiator heat was very comfortable. It is decorated with photos of the many movies that were filmed in the Alabamas, just a short distance up Mt. Whitney Road, which gives the Hotel a warm, comfy feeling. The employees are very friendly and courteous, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The rates are affordable. It is very nice to see a hotel property of this era maintained in this wonderful fashion and still operating.
