“Excellent Orientation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

If you're visiting the Eastern Sierra or Death Valley, the Visitor Center is the place to start. My favorite thing is a huge relief map showing the area in detail. The staff is knowledgable and helpful. There are a number of interesting, unique things for sale at the little store inside.
There can be long lines for wilderness permits, so come early and be prepared to wait.

“Mt Whitney, Owens Valley and Death Valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

These are just a few of the area attractions that you can get information about at this excellent Visitor Center that is staffed with Rangers that are even more knowledgeable than usual. Some of the other attractions that I was able to get expert information about included Manzanar, the Alabama Hills, the film history of the Lone Pine area and the driving tour, hiking trails, the ancient Bristlecone Pines near Bishop, local food and lodging and even information on Armargosa Valley which is near the Nevada border. There are also a number of interesting displays and a bookstore with many good books, maps (including topographic) and a souvenirs. If you are travelling the area, you should definitely stop here for information and recommendations with the bonus of some excellent views of the towering Sierras.

“VISITOR CENTER”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

The Eastern Sierra InterAgency Visitor Center is a great place to get information from The Forest Service, National Parks Service, The Lone Pine Visitor center, about the Eastern Sierra, Death Valley, and local places to go and see. The displays of the aqueduct and the history of the crews that built it are fantastic. The selection of books is quite good for a visitor center and the various rangers were fascinating to talk to.
This is a must see stop if you are visiting the Lone Pine or Death Valley area.

“Great Government Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

Every year we go backpacking in the Golden Trout Wilderness. We pick up our permits here and appreciate the nice service. I have even listened in on other traveler's travel questions and like the advice they give.

“Highway 395 trip”

Friendly staff but they lack free maps of neighboring cities. Other visitor center smaller than there location have free maps of other cities close by, this place charge every bit of it.
