“We don't need no stinking badges...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Had a pretty basic meal at this venue. Food was good, not great, ambiance was clearly about westerns made in the area. Posters of Duke, etc everywhere. Really enjoyed our young waiter. Bright, friendly, and willing to share his local knowledge.

“What has happened to this place?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014

Have stopped here numerous times when climbing in the Sierras and never had a problem. But this time different story, first a service girl (can't even call her a waitress) sat us down and we asked for water right off. No water, 10 minutes later waitress comes over and we tell her. Girl comes back brings ONE water. We ask her what burger is the best and she says she doesn't eat here. Waitress finally comes back takes our order then gets our drinks. Wait did I mention no water still. Food comes, my chili burger luke warm, tell the girl and ask to nuke it, she laughs on her way to the microwave, never a sorry. The topper of the whole experience was the cashier was complaining about tips to the waitress loudly so everyone can hear her. Never again!

“Plentiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Mt. Whitney Restaurant was recommended by the desk clerk at our lodging. What a great choice. Lots of pictures of the old west movie stars. Friendly staff. Food was delicious. Good selections. We had dinner and didn't have enough room left for dessert. Easy to find and lots of parking.

“Best burger ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

Saw the restaurant advertised in the motels "book", looked on Tripadviser and then off we went to find it.

You could park right outside if you wanted.

We had to wait a few minutes to be seated but as this is a family run place you can understand why and they were busy.

My OH says it's the best burger he's ever had (and he's just become an OAP!). Mine was pretty good too.

Definite gem of a find, just what you need when you are the road.

“Good place to go for ambiance but the food to improve a bit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

My review of Mount Whitney walks a fine line.. First, I love their building and the decorations. It has all of the pictures of the movies that were filmed here. It also has a nice rustic feel that makes you feel like you are in the Owen's Valley.

Breakfast is above average, lunch is too, but the dinner menu is where things start to fall apart. I am not sure where to put them. They are about the same as Totem Cafe.. With the chicken, vegetables, etc... it is hit or miss.. Even their burgers which is a main stay there is just something missing.

I love their shakes! They do a good job of that. We had a strawberry shake and a banana shake and they both tasted fresh.

Their service is great! At least the people I met all seemed to be very interested in serving and were kin and patient.
