“disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Long road trip and were here just one night. We had been staying in very nice national park lodges and this was our last night. We went for budget. This wasn't much of a budget, but my travel companion didn't want to stay at a chain hotel. We should have.

Over priced. Small room, beds are alright, but not real comfortable. Very few cable channels. towels not much and very little in the room.

In addition, I needed to print out my boarding pass and their printer wasn't working - it was even connected to computer that was available for guests. No wireless internet.

The good news, they are located on the main drag in town. There is a McDonald's half a block away with free interent. Also, a nice coffee shop with high speed internet 2 blocks away.

Stay at one of the chains.

“Excellent little motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Quiet, clean, and recently updated. The room was a nice size, pleasantly decorated, and with a kitchenette for an unexpected plus. Easy walk to restaurants. Only drawback was the early (10:30) checkout time..

“Great place to stay in Lone Pine!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

This is a great place for your Mt. Whitney base "camp" or if you find yourself in Lone Pine. It's clean, reasonably priced, has good AC, a nice flat screen tv, fridge, coffee maker and really friendly owners. It's a great location in town too. Highly recommend it!!!

“Wonderful motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Absolutely clean with wi-fi, big-enough fridge, good aircon, microwave and a bathtub! This is an older motel that was compleltely remodeled--very nicely--in recent years. This is the second year in a row we have stayed for several days. We will keep coming back. The people who own and operate this motel are friendly and just a pleasure to deal with. We drive up to Horseshoe Meadows and Cottonwood Pass trailheads and hike almost daily when we drive to Lone Pine from San Diego. Today we drove over to Bristlecone Pine National Forest and hiked around the 4000 yr old living trees. We will always stay at El Portal Motel when we come to this area--it's simple, modern, clean and has everything travelers or adventurers need.

“A very good roadside motel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

This is a small roadside hotel in a small town. On our tail end of a very long road trip we stayed here and it was very nice. The owners are very nice and helpful and it was very clean. Everything we needed was provided. The AC worked well. The bathroom was spacious. They have a larger room with three beds and I highly recommend that room.

Room Tip: Get the room with three beds!!!
