4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2009

I stayed one Thursday night after hiking on Mt. Whitney. The innkeeper was most helpful and informative. Being a season ticket holder for the local high school sports teams he gave me good info on the volleyball playoff game that night. The room rate was most acceptable, the room quite nice, and the location is hard to beat. It is right next door to the movie museum (a MUST see). His son assisted me in the morning; a delightful family operation. I would look to stay here again.

Just wanted to add my opinion.. We have stayed at the Trails Motel the past two years while attending the great Western Film Festival held in October. It is conveniently located next to the Film History Museum. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms clean. If you are into old westerns you should stay here and attend the festival. They even contacted us to conferm this years rooms which we reserved last year before leaving. We recommend the Trails .

I have stayed here a number of time over the past 10 years. Rooms are always clean and well-maintained. Staff is friendly - no negatives. I plan on staying here whenever I go to Lone Pine. BTW, they have their own website: http://www.trailsmotel.com/index.html

A very nice motel room, impeccably clean, with 2 queens, and a nice, clean, cold pool for a very hot day. AC worked great and wasn't too loud, bathtup and all plumbing worked well. We thought this place was a very good alternative to some of the more pricey places in Lone Pine. Its not luxury, but its a very good example of what a cheap motel should be. PS for food the best restaurant in town by far is Seasons.

The prices in Lone pair are held high by the few chain motels. Motels such as this that should be charging under $50 but get away with higher prices. The bedroom seemed generally clean. The bathroom contained two dead cockroaches behind the door. The colour of the tissue having wiped the area where they were found suggested a less than thorough clean.
They seem reluctant to provide towels for the pool. Our first request was ignored and our second request was greeted by 'use the one from your room'. Eventually we obtained extra towels. Just as well as the poolside furniture was covered in dust/grime and the pool had an obvious film on it. Breakfast consists of Sunny D and pastry - no coffee as one bag (tough if you only like decaf!) was provided in the room and that's your lot. Drive up the road to Bishop, or down to Ridgecrest (the Heritage Inn is excellent at $75 with full breakfast etc - just $6 more!!!) for a better deal.
