First off, we loved our stay at Jalama Beach. My 6 year old son and I camped in a tent site. We did not have a view of the ocean from our site due to the sand dunes directly infront of us, but those dunes did help shelter us from the wind. (It does get windy here, but that's part of the charm). There are sites that do have nice ocean views, but they are more exposed. The sites are a bit primitive and the restrooms are as well, but this place really takes you back to a simplier time. There is no cell service here whatsoever and I thought I would die without it (I'm one who compulsively checks email, news etc all day long) but it really was great to just be, and on an otherwise uninhibited part of pristine California coastline no less. Not much has changed to this part of the coast since the winds off Point Conception turned Cabrillo back twice prior to his death. I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to share this small unpopulated part of paradise with my son.
