“Just Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

First, the disclaimer: This was my first vineyard restaurant experience, so I may have been caught up in the whole grapevine, sunset over the hills, winemaking estate thing. That having been disclosed, WOW!

The drive from Livermore center is not what I expected, and when you get to the edge of the vineyard, you're not even close to the entrance. I felt like I had somehow missed the place and then the stone pillars and the Wente sign, thelight in the restaurant was so inviting as it was getting dark.

Inside was just what you would expect, like a scene from a movie, very rich and tasteful. There is a bar, which was great for me since I was travelling alone on business when I visited. This is a small bar, but just right for the setting.

There are wines on the wine list that must be reserved for the restaurant, because I have never seen them for sale since learning of Wente a few years ago. I NEVER drink Chardonnay, but I have had Wente chard. and it is fantastic.

The prices in the restaurant are outrageous, but who cares, this is not a place to go for "cheap eats". It is a lovely experience. The food was excellent, but the service, atmosphere, the wine and the overall experience were wonderful. I would have loved to share it with somebody!

I found it odd that the wine shop closes at 6:00. Wouldn't most people pick up a case or two after driving all that way and having such a beautiful experience?

“Beautiful food in beautiful surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

A bit out of the way and east of San Francisco, not up in the traditional Wine Country. But Wente Vinyards has a lovely restaurant serving very well-prepared and imaginative food of the highest quality.

And a nice plus is the open air seating looking out on the California hills and the golf course surrounded by the active vinyard's grapes.

Attentive service and a moderately interesting wine list going beyond Wente's offerings. Particularly enjoyed the lamb pastrami.

“Beautiful setting, great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Had a wonderful lunch at Wente this week. I called ahead to request a plant-based option and it was no problem at all. Had a lovely red quinoa with roasted veggies, My family members also enjoyed their lunches: great hamburgers and a lovely pasta dish. Dessert was yummy too.

Of course you are at the vineyard so wine choices were extensive and I opted for some Wente Chardonnay - very nice!

“Overall great winery.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

This winery is larger than most family owned and operated wineries, but not too large. The outdoor events are always a lot of fun, though they tend to be very crowed. Gread wine and good people. Visit if you get the chance.

Play 18 holes, taste some otstanding wines and enjoy an excellent meal outside. This is what my friends and I did all from the same parking lot. I would definitely go back. Excellent service and hospitality
