So I usually stay at the Marriott Residence Inn for each trip, but the conference I was going to booked rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn at Livermore and honored the government rate. I couldn't get into the Residence Inn across the street, so booked here instead. Overall, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. However, as a hotel it was just so-so, convenience wise.
The gym is a faux gym which is only open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. I have a stressful job, so having 24/7 access to the gym is a must. Equipment is limited in their gym, so if you are able to get in the door during the limited hours, the equipment is usually hogged by several people (two treadmills and an elliptical plus a set of dumb-bells). There is a gym nearby that you can pay $20 a day for if you want a real gym. It's open 24 hours (Livermore Super Sport
2650 Kittyhawk Rd., Livermore, CA 94551, (925) 447-4496).
This hotel does NOT have free anything, foodwise. You are on your own and end up having to pay around $12-$15 for breakfast and probably more for dinner (didn't do the dinner route there). They do have a mini-microwave and a mini-college fridge in the room, but you end up having to bum silverware and dishes from the front desk and cleaning them in your bathroom sink between uses (no full kitchen in the room). Kind of like camping in your hotel room.
Internet is not free unless you are a Hilton Honors member (which I am), but I couldn't get their website to take my number and password, so had to rely on my hotspot on my cell phone package instead. Again, the staff was quite wonderful, so this slightly balanced out the inconveniences of not having a good gym, free breakfast/dinner, and a room with a regular kitchen.
