“Just fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

For less than $200 a night, it has just about everything. Totally clean, with a front row view of the ocean. We would recommend you try to stay in the Van Damme section which is 4 rooms with very private decks and unobstructed views of the ocean. Also, a private and very clean hot tub.

Really, one of the best hotel values we've seen in a while. The view alone is worth the money.

We could even park our car right by our door.

Room Tip: Get a Van Damme room. Any one of them. We had room 242. They are all great.

Spent 2 nights at Little River Inn during our first trip to the Mendocino County. The outside of the property is pretty basic and not very impressive. Reception area is small and old. But it is central to everything Mendocino has to offer.

The inside of the room is better than outside. The room is updated and cozy. Feels very new. Heating works very well which is a huge bonus considering it gets very cold in the area. Every room has an ocean view with a shared balcony and rocking chairs. Really cute!

What I was not impressed with is the bathrooms. They seemed old and dingy. It seems as though it has not been updated for a very long time. Floors were green tile and did not seem clean. Also I noticed the toilet bowl was dirty. Not sure if it was not clean or just old. But I was not pleased with this. You pay a pretty penny to stay at this hotel and I feel as though the bathrooms should be better.

Also, room service ends before 9pm. Which is a bummer. Breakfast at the restaurant was good though. And Sue at the bar makes killer cocktails.

Good stay, just wish the bathroom was more attended to.

My husband and I stayed here and we loved it. We visited the Anderson Valley wineries during the day and this was the perfect place to end the day with a bottle of wine and a beautiful sunset. We stayed in room 132. The sunset was lovely. It is a great place to stay. You won't be disappointed.

We needed a meal after checking into another smaller place in town. When we got out of our car, we were greeted by patrons just leaving the place. They joyously told us to head inside for a great meal and fun atmosphere. We did and we had a great meal that without an expensive bottle of wine was quite reasonable. The fish soup was piled high with fresh caught ocean delights. Get there early and try to call for reservations to be polite. They will take you anyway.

Little River Inn was a delightful respite on the journey up Highway one on our way to the Avenue of the Giants. We had a nice room overlooking the beautiful coastline. The bed was so comfy we slept better than we had in ages. Breakfast the next morning at the restaurant was terrific. The eggs Benedict with spinach and tomatoes was to die for. We will definitely make this a stop again.

What a wonderful location for this inn. Superb view of the ocean replete with crashing surf; salt spray; and birds. You can see the coastal scene but not the highway. The building may look a little dated but the room was up to date. You cannot beat rocking chairs on the porch of your unit. Worth a return visit.By the way , contrary to another reviewer, we had coffee in the room. This a great location as Mendicino is only about 3 miles away. Also the location is convenient if you want to use it as a base to access Andeson Valley and it's wineries Golfers might enjoy the par 3 course which is a part of the property. WE did not have much interaction with the staff but in the little we did we found them competent and friendly. We did not use the restaurant but the menu was interestng looking and a conversation with another occupant revealed that they had enjoyed several excellent meals there My wife and I thought that if we had a bit more time that this would be a great place to come for several days. You could do some exploring of the local area , kick back and read and enjoy the sound of the surf and watch a beautiful sunset

We drove up from Sonoma and spent two nights in early Oct. The Inn is beautifully situated and fronts the blue Pacific across Hwy 1. It is an older property that could use some room upgrades, but otherwise very clean and very nice. Our room had a private front porch with rocking chairs. Note: there is no AC and no coffee in lobby, and an extra charge for a newspaper. At the time of our stay internet service was hit or miss. Good food at the onsite restaurant with a fun bar. Par 3 golf course in rear of the property. Located only 2 miles from historic Mendocino. Overall this is a very charming inn with efficient, friendly service and we would definitely stay again.
