What a wonderful location for this inn. Superb view of the ocean replete with crashing surf; salt spray; and birds. You can see the coastal scene but not the highway. The building may look a little dated but the room was up to date. You cannot beat rocking chairs on the porch of your unit. Worth a return visit.By the way , contrary to another reviewer, we had coffee in the room. This a great location as Mendicino is only about 3 miles away. Also the location is convenient if you want to use it as a base to access Andeson Valley and it's wineries Golfers might enjoy the par 3 course which is a part of the property. WE did not have much interaction with the staff but in the little we did we found them competent and friendly. We did not use the restaurant but the menu was interestng looking and a conversation with another occupant revealed that they had enjoyed several excellent meals there My wife and I thought that if we had a bit more time that this would be a great place to come for several days. You could do some exploring of the local area , kick back and read and enjoy the sound of the surf and watch a beautiful sunset

We drove up from Sonoma and spent two nights in early Oct. The Inn is beautifully situated and fronts the blue Pacific across Hwy 1. It is an older property that could use some room upgrades, but otherwise very clean and very nice. Our room had a private front porch with rocking chairs. Note: there is no AC and no coffee in lobby, and an extra charge for a newspaper. At the time of our stay internet service was hit or miss. Good food at the onsite restaurant with a fun bar. Par 3 golf course in rear of the property. Located only 2 miles from historic Mendocino. Overall this is a very charming inn with efficient, friendly service and we would definitely stay again.

Just spent 2 nights at this lovely inn with our daughter and small dog. We were able to upgrade to 2 queen beds, ocean view, fireplace, and jacuzzi tub. The views are amazing, the room is quiet, and the beds are comfortable. The weather could not have been better. You can walk a short path down to the ocean and Van Damme Park. It is just across the street from the Wild Fish restaurant which is delicious. My daughter and I had massages at the spa which were very good and a pleasant environment.

We are wrapping up a two week tour of california, starting in sonoma and ending back in santa rosa. We just left Little River Inn in Mendocino, and it was the most beautiful and romantic place ever!! I booked early and got the white cottage, which is a completely private piece of heaven! The restaraunt has excellent food reasonably priced. Golf and tennis on site....we wished we stayed there rather then come back to the sonoma area. Our higher priced inn here has turned out to be a bust so far......vintners inn :(

Room Tip: Get the white cottage!!!!

Stayed here for one night and felt like we got our money's worth. Family owned for decades this place has a vibe all its own - relaxed, unpretentious with a lot of charm.

Our room was at the very end and very private and quite large - no one above or below us. Our balcony was nearly private with a great ocean view. The room was very quiet and clean; the furnishings while not new, were well maintained.

The front office was terrific.

The bar scene was a mix of locals (golf course on site) and tourists. The mood was friendly if not jovial.

The restaurant fare was good as was the service. The wine list contained some smaller, lesser known vineyards and offered a good selection.

This was truly an Inn and one I would recommend to anyone looking for something with a little more charm and conviviality among the staff and guests alike.

This is our second time at the Inn. We stayed in a Traditional room on the second floor, and while the view was amazing, the view from the room on our first stay (8 years ago...yes, it was that memorable) was a smidge better. There is nothing that will wash away your cares like relaxing on the porch, watching the sun dance on the ocean, and sipping a glass of fine wine.

I gave this a 4 rating only because the room looked a little tired. The carpet needs a good cleaning and the trim around the sliding door had begun to peel. We didn't really mind because our eyes were on the view!

We are planning our next stay for next March. No, we don't want to wait so long again for this treasure!

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs in the middle of the north building for an awesome view.

What a jewel we found here! We stayed 2 nights and wish it would have been longer. Lovely, comfortable rooms. We traveled with my sister and her husband. We spent MANY hours just sitting in the rockers on the huge covered porch. The view is so peaceful! The restaurant on the premises was absolutely wonderful!!! We had just come from the Napa area but Little River Inn was the highlight of our whole week. We will definitely be back!!! Since we have been home, whenever life gets stressful (which is often) we picture ourselves in our rockers on the porch of The Little River Inn!

Room Tip: make sure you get an oceanview with porch!
