“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Excellent stay with family of 4 for three nights. Hotel staff is very good and quality of the rooms are excellent with great view. We stayed in room 165 ( Ocean view room with fireplace & Jacuzzi) and room 120 (Ocean View). My son and I played golf in the morning.

Location is ideal.

Little River Inn is a gem along the Coast just a little south of the town of Mendocino. We splurged for one of the best rooms, a little attached "cottage" with an I obstructed, close and absolutely breathtaking view of the coast. Theorist of our room was all windows and we had a private veranda and a private hot tub. What a wonderful stay! The main cottages are across the street and are very well maintained and inviting and also have ocean views. We divined at the restaurant of the inn and the food and wine were excellent. Top recommendation for Little River!

Room Tip: Best rooms, but pricey are those across the street. Very private and quiet.

From the helpful folks on the phone when we first called until our final wave out of the parking lot the staff at the Little River Inn did everything they could to make our stay perfect.

Our room had a fireplace and large windows that looked out to the surf. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The grounds were very quiet, allowing the sound of the waves to be the only distraction.

There is a restaurant on-site that was quite good. And there was a complete room service menu that we took advantage of for breakfast a couple of times.

The location is close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg so you have a good selection of dining and shopping choices.

If you need it, there is internet available, but cell phone coverage is a little spotty. Not a bad thing if you are looking for a great get-away. There is no pool, but there is a golf course and spa on-site. One of the best features of the rooms are the comfortable rocking chairs that are on the deck of each room.

We shared this vacation as a family, but the Inn would certainly make a wonderful romantic getaway. It's a little drive, but well worth it to get away to the coast for a while.

We have stayed in Fort Bragg several times before, but the Little River Inn has now become our coastal "home away from home."

Room Tip: Almost all of the rooms have a great view of the ocean. We opted for a deluxe, fireplace room. A lit...

We recently stayed at the Little River Inn on a trip to California. We had a great stay here unfortunately only marred by the fog which kept rolling in and obscuring the fantastic view over the ocean. The room we had couldn't be faulted. It was spotlessly clean with a porch and large rocking chairs to relax in. We ate in the restaurant once and the bar area aswell . The food and service were excellent. Maria who worked as the bar tender was very friendly and efficient especially in mixing me a very good chocolate martini ,yum! My only warning would be that if you book with expedia they offer a bed and breakfast rate, this isn't quite the case. We checked with the lady on reception and were told that this wasn't the case although as we had been offered this we were given vouchers to the value of $20. Talking of breakfast I must recommend Oles fruit scones possibly the best scones I have ever tasted! Be warned you do get three per portion so they are good to share. The Inn is situated in beautiful grounds with very easy access to the nearby Van Damme state park and the beach.

Room Tip: Choose a cottage overlooking the ocean

What a gem of an inn!!!! Located on Route 1, literally across the street from the ocean, this charming property provides guests with all they could ask for and more. Friendly service, wonderful rooms (all with views of the water), balconies overlooking the Pacific, and a golf course and spa to top it off! And we haven't yet raved about the magnificent gardens throughout. Sitting at breakfast was a botanical delight!
For the golfers, it is interesting to know tat resort guests do not pay a fee for rental clubs.

Possibly the best find was the Botanical Gardens just down the street!

Loved our experience at Little River! The location and grounds are awesome and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We just loved keeping our door open a bit at night and falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves! Highly recommended! One side note - we booked their "Skunk Train" package only to find out that there's been a tunnel collapse and the train trip is only an hour. The hotel was most accommodating in reimbursing us for the difference in the trips. But, the train trip was really bad. Unless you have young kids (which there were a lot of), avoid the train until they fix the tunnel. You can see more cool stuff hiking Van Damme State Park (right next to Little River). Overall though, I highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: If you choose one of the "basic" rooms, ask for a 2nd floor unit closest to the lobby (sou...

We spent our anniversary here in May and were greeted with chocolates in our room and a special welcome note. A great way to start the weekend celebration. Our room had a porch with rocking chairs looking out at the grand Pacific ocean. Sip on wine or your choice of drink while we simply let all the cares slip away...and it was a clear day so we could see the horizon as far as ocean's end. The garden was beautiful with rhododendrins in full bloom. The restaurant served up top notch food, and we hung out with other locals and guests at the bar and watched the glorious sunset. We will definitely return.
