“Ole's pancake craving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Took my family for brunch while they were visiting me here in Mendocino on Memorial day. The swedish family recipe pancakes here are the BEST! The breakfast menu is in my opinion the best around fo quality and value. Hours of operation are limited (8 to 10.30 am) so you have to hurry, and the staff oozes annoyance if you show up around 10.15. The food was great, but service was disappointing. Order was messed up, server told us flat out, we did not order what we did, then charged us for what we did not get, and left something else we did get Off the bill, so I guess it worked out? Dining staff were so glum and uncommunitive it was almost to the point of rudeness. If the food wasnt good, we would have left when a busser, after leaving us standing at the door for several minutes, came by and without eye contact or greeting, mumbled that someone would come seat us and continued walking away. Such a beautiful historic old establishment, seems management could pick some more cheerful help!

“Close, but not quite.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

For starters, there is a spectacular view available IF YOU ARE SITTING AT THE BAR in a separate room. The dining room is behind this and surrounded by a narrow perimeter of garden. A miss. There appears to be a smaller dining room that does have an ocean view but we were not shown or offered it, noticing it only on the way to the restroom. The food was OK. The crab cake appetizer was fine, but a bit pricy for what you got. I had the lamb shank and it was OK, but could be more tender. It was served with an odd item - rosemary/garlic bread pudding - tasted like thanksgiving stuffing. My wife had a vegetable torte and it got very soggy very fast. To their credit the service was very exceptional and made for a pleasant dining experience even with the food issues.

“A view with great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Can't say enough about our early dinner at the Little River Inn. My husband stopped by after visiting our favorite wineries. We shared the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were bay shrimp (very small) but very tasty. Little River makes their own cocktail sauce which was very good with a slight kick to it. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the cajun fish sandwich. We both enjoyed our meal. You can't go wrong at this place. We sat at the bar which overlooks the ocean. This place shouldn't be missed when you are in Mendicino County.

“You can count on the service and quality of food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Have eaten here a number of times. Breakfast is amazing, the dining room has white linen tablecloths and beautiful garden picture windows. Eggs cooked perfectly, often have Crab Benedict, Swedish pancakes are superb with a dollop of butter and real maple syrup. Dinners also diving, great wine list to pair with your dinners.
Tuesday nights are Mexican night, giant delicious burritos smothered in sauce for around $10. Margaritas made with Patron tequila for $5, and free chips. Try the guacamole for a stater, giant portion seasoned just right.
