I stayed here in late July and absolutely loved the place. I would have spent double on it. The owners are the absolute nicest people you can imagine. We stayed in one of the 2 guest houses. The place was very clean, full kitchen with all utensils, coffee, tea, spices, everything you could want. There was plenty of towels for everyone, beds were comfy, Private patio on the back was great. There's a charcoal bbq for you to use table and chairs and great scenery. There's a great garden area outside with lots of picnic tables swings and lounge chairs. There's a fire pit in the garden and they provide you bug spray if you need it. My wife and mother were in love with the place. Very comfy furniture in the living room. No T.V. but perfect to go and just get away. This isn't some "Rustic" dump like a lot of other places. Just a great place to stay. Will be back for sure!

Room Tip: The guest house is awesome.

We stayed at Stonegate Villas in April, 2011. We stayed in the "guest house" which is a 2-bedroom guest house adjacent to the motel units. It has a very adequate kitchen, eating area, and living room. The location is quiet and peaceful, and there are birds chirping in the trees. The owners were friendly and helpful. It was a treat to stay in a place off the beaten track, to forget about cell phones and TVs for a few days, and enjoy a tranquil time at Stonegate Villas. Our journeys to the Redwoods were easily done from this place.

Room Tip: The guest house was a bargain!

the stonegate villa is an old motel on the old highway. as such it has no frills. what it has is a great location off of the freeway. the units are old but definitely not run down. they are kept up, very clean, and the mattresses provided a good, restful sleep. we opted for the bare-bones unit but some have fireplaces and kitchens. the owners/hosts are very gracious and eager to please. all-in-all, a great value if passing through and a great place to get some r&r.

We found this place through a google search and did not have any reviews/references prior to staying - we booked on the Inn's website.
We stayed at this inn on the second night of our 2 week roadtrip down the west coast. We were just looking for a decent place to crash for the night as we were on the road for most of the day driving through the Redwoods National Forest.
This place was a cute little inn just at the south end of the National Forest, located just off Hwy 101. The inn keeper was very nice and helpful, giving us advice on the best places to visit in the area. This place is actually located just a 2 minute drive to the Chandelier drive-thru tree, which was so cool.
The place itself is an older building - no frills, but very well kept and clean. The location was really nice, surrounded by nature (trees) and so nice and quiet at night - we slept very well.
We were up very early the next morning to hit the road and once again the inn keeper was very pleasant and helpful. The room even had a kettle and with coffee and tea, which we wouldn't expect from a smaller inn located such in a rural area.
Overall this place is an excellent value, as they have very low rates and provide a solid, no-frills place to stay.
Would definitely return if we are in the area again, and just a note that there are no food places in Leggett... we had to eat in Garberville before we got to the motel and then we waited until the next village more South before we were able to eat breakfast.

This is a bare-bones room with just the basics. And it is perfectly adequate if that's all you need.

The property is very nice. All rooms are on the ground level, so you don't have to deal with any noise or footsteps above you. In addition, the building looked like is is well-built with brick walls between the rooms. The person at the desk was very helpful.

My only complaint was the size of the sink in the bathroom. The sink itself was miniature, and there was virtually no counter space. The rest of the bathroom was OK. I did not need air conditioning on my visit, but I did not see an air conditioner in the room. You may want to inquire if you are visiting during peak summer.

Stayed here with friends in room #2. It was nice that the second bed was in another room, separated by a door. The owners were very nice and greeted us as if we were old friends. Plentiful towels, clean comfortable bed. Great Deal! Board games and books can be borrowed.
Lots of big fat friendly cats outside : )
