“Previously worth waiting in line, but service and food now disappoint with prompt seating”
We are sad to report that the service and food well worth waiting in line with our family a few years ago, was all but missing from our dinner Labor Day weekend, The two men who are presumably the owner and manager ensured little or no wait for seating inside or on the patio, but the rest of the dining experience begs their attention. Several patio diners including ourselves had long waits to be greeted by their server, then to have their order taken, and finally to receive it. Near the end of my two-piece fish and fries meal, I was finally able to flag our water to get malted vinegar not among six condiments on the table nor offered with my meal. The tartar sauce was chunky and better than most, but could not overcome the dry sections of fish. We were presented our ticket without having been offered beverage refills or dessert, and noticed the same at several other tables. After a morning canoe tour of Mono Lake and afternoon exploring the nearby town of Bodie, we enjoyed the restaurant's lake view and the Mono Lake Committee's storefront next door, but were disappointed with our meal here. We will visit the area again and hope that service and food improve to the former standard.
