the greeting one gets here is very genuine and friendly. Even later on the street, one of the staff said hello and had a joke about hanging around street corners ( such is their warmth here) The name lake view not quite accurate as trees have grown, upper part of the motel may have limited views. we stayed in a cabin and were not worried about no view as the cabin was amazing ( one could live there) even has a kitchen and internet despite the isolated area. we were given a 20% discount voucher for the coffee shop on site but it is open 7 to 11 a m only and it is a coffee shop with limited croissants and boxed cereal. the guys operating it are delightful and make great coffee, however just down hill is a great cafe.

Room Tip: read the reviews and then read them again, but here all rooms seem pretty safe

This Lodge was quite nice bigger then We thought it would be. The gardens in the front were some of the best I have seen especially for a small town lodge! The rooms were very nice and quite. There is an onsite cafe for breakfast you guests get a good discount but get there before 8:30 or so because they run out quick of the baked goods. decent coffee.

Room Tip: the view is better from the upper level.

Right outside the road into Yosemite. 11 miles from gate then 8 more miles to info station. Hotel rooms are like 1990 s Days Inn. Could use an update but are clean. Grounds are very nice and well maintained and very nice peaceful siiting areas that you can look over some limited view of mono lake. Nice small town that you can stroll through after long day hiking in paradise. Very peaceful place to stay.

Worst bed I've ever slept on. The AC kept going out in the middle of the night and the pillows smelled like they were 10 years old. Very rough nights sleep. Thin walls, hard mattres. For $148.00 I was floored. Beautiful town though and close to the three restaurants in town.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Location: I was told that there are no good lodging in Lee Vining, so I considered driving 30 minutes to Mammoth Lake. However, I am glad we stayed here because this gives us more time/flexibility in Yosemite. The high sierra/Tuolumne area was having thunderstorms when we visited. So we changed plans to go to Mono Lake instead (which was sunny). And we were able to go back into Tuolumne the next morning because it's only about 30 minute drive. Had we stayed at Mammoth Lake, we probably wouldn't want to back track so much.

Lodge: This seems to be the largest and nicest place in Lee Vining, at least from outside appearance. I am not counting Tioga Pass Resort, which is almost like lodging inside the park. Coming out of lodgings inside Yosemite, I am happy to be here, since it is very large, with 2 sinks, granite countertop, micro/fridge, and wifi. Lee Vining is tiny, so restaurants are a few steps away. There is a grocery next door. There is some view of Mono lake, but somewhat obstructed. The landscaping at the lodge is nice.

Downside: It is on highway 395, so do all other Lee Vining motels. Because this is the only road in Lee Vining. It has road noise in the morning, and pretty loud. And the fridge is fairly loud too. But for lack of better choice, this was a good stay.

The good: Stayed 1 night. Location was good with a short walk to some restaurants. Everything was clean and room was spacious (2 queen beds). I also like their bath towels.

The bad: Were woken up at 5:30am by the sound of a mouse moving inside the wall. I let the girl at the desk know about the mouse when we left and she said she'd alert the maintenance guys.

Conclusion: Don't know if I'd stay here again or not. Other than the mouse I would have given this place 3 stars as an average hotel. Please note there are not many places to choose from in Lee Vining.
