While there was a lot lacking at this place, it's location and price outweigh all the downsides. We decided to go here this year for spring snowboarding instead of Mammoth, and we will return. The facility has seen better days no doubt; even the pics I included don't adequately represent how rundown this place is, but it was so nice to just be able to let the kids get ready and walk across the parking lot to snowboard that I would have braved just about anything. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite (using the term suite loosely:). It had a coffee maker and some coffee, a functioning TV with CNN, FOX, some regular stations and HBO, and a small refrigerator (that froze everything... but oh well). It was about 1/2 the price (or less) of a similarly located facility at Mammoth, and while it doesn't have the amenities or the organization that Mammoth has, it was much less crowded- more low key. We all loved it and its rustic atmosphere!
Food, hmmm, well some of it was edible and some not, but it was part of the experience.
One issue arose while we were there; my son had a snowboarding accident and the ski patrol, while nice enough, doesn't seem very knowledgeable about sports medicine. It was a 60 mile, almost two hour, ride to Clovis Medical Center. In the end he was fine, but it would be a little scary if someone was really seriously hurt.
