“short getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We went to lake arrowhead on a "special" deal. We needed a short break and this fit the bill having never been there before. We checked in at two and our room wasn't ready but were assured our room had a balconey, as we had requested. Came back at four and were given our room...no balconey(though the room was large and lovely.)We called the front desk and they had us in a balconey room in ten minutes.Bravo! The room itself was smaller but the same sq. ft.was the same if you include the outdoor space. The weather was great and we like our fresh air and our room a little on the cooler side, it was perfect. All the boats had been removed for the winter so it was really quiet and peaceful, very nice! Summertime could be a little noisy I would think. We ate breakfast in the restaurant both days and it was excellant.the omelet was one of the best I have ever had,my husband even preferred it over the eggs benadict, unusual for him though he said that was really good too.We had a really nice time, the village was cute, room was clean and nicely decorated, the staff was great what more could one ask. Really enjoyed it.I have to be pretty "wowed" to give 5 stars.

Room Tip: If you like air, get the balconey, if you don't care take the room without

“Can't wait to go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

I loved Lake Arrowhead period. Great get away and the hotel was just as great. I was there for a few days and was not ready to go home hope to make it up there again. Ate at the restaurant and it was good. Staff was friendly

Room Tip: Get a view of the lake

“Wonderful location, excellent service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

My husband and I went to visit for a week for our anniversary. Upon walking in we were stunned at the gorgeous lobby and were instantly greeted. We checked in and I had mentioned when booking it was our anniversary, they had noted this and congratulated us and then said they could upgrade us to a spa suite! We did also have a discrepancy in our rate and they took care of this quickly and efficiently.

Our room was amazing! We were in the serenity suite and it was spectacular! The bathroom had huge shower and a huge spa tub in it that overlooked the lake. We also had a balcony overlooking the lake. Some of my favorite moments were sitting on the balcony in the morning with my two watching the lake.

It was also located very close to shops and restaurants within walking distance which was very nice.

The spa is also attached and a nice amenity to have. We did get massages and it was one if the best massages I have ever had!

Overall, we had a great time that was made by the great service and awesome room!

“Not a Resort!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We picked this resort because the website made it look amazing as well as the high AAA rating. We saw a special deal and thought we'd try it out....had we paid full price I would have been even more upset. Unfortunately what we saw and experienced was a very old hotel that they have tried to update into a resort. They have fallen very short. When we arrived, there was no parking because they were hosting two weddings. The lobby was full of drunk and loud guests from this event. We didn't get any sleep during our three night stay....first night woken up by our next door neighbors coming back to their room after the wedding (you can hear everything!), and the next two nights we were woken up by the people staying above us (the floors are so thin you can hear them walking around the room, in the bathroom, and having conversations). We ended up leaving the hotel at 5:00 am on our last day because management would not ask the people above us to be quiet. This hotel allows pets and we got flea bites during our first night. Majority of the staff was great (i.e. housekeeping), but managment has a poor attitude. Nothing was handled with professionalism, including the horrible room service (burnt grilled cheese and a burnt chocolate chip cookie). We got a stale croissant at the hotel cafe and the food at the restaurant is mediocre. We also planned on using the gym, since you pay a daily resort fee, however they allow the community to have gym memberships so it was always full. Which also made for a very unrelaxing spa experience since it's in the spa area....they use the jacuzzi, sauna, etc. Also the massages we had were very expensive which is fine if you're receiving a high end massage, but these massages felt like we had rookies....not relaxing at all. This town has been hit hard by the economy as you can tell in the nearby Village....closed stores everywhere. The community needs the jobs this hotel provides, but I don't see this hotel lasting. Sidenote, unless you're an owner of a home, you don't have lake rights....so you can look at the beautiful lake, but you can't use it unless you pay for an overpriced boat tour.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor and make sure you don't have anyone in the adjoining room.

“Back to Nature”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We stayed midweek and it was really slow. They were finishing up some renovations on the out side but they didn't hinder our stay. We had a King room in the east wing and no balcony so next time I would ask for a balcony room. The bed was really comfy. The entire facility is No Smoking including balconies which is great. Rooms in the West wing looked to have better views of the lake. I wouldn't rate the hotel at 4 star maybe 3 or 31/2 due to the wear showing in hallways and furniture, but the staff was 5 star on our visit. They couldn't do enough for us. Their restaurant "Bin 189" has a nice menu and very good food with resort prices. Breakfasts and room service were great. Try the baby greens ,with a brie crouton, and guava/cilantro dressing. They have a spa that offers all sorts of services but we didn't use any of them. All in all it was a nice peaceful and relaxing visit. The village is within easy walking distance with lots of shops, food places and a major chain market. Check their website before going for specials. We used a Groupon deal that was have off the rack rate plus breakfasts and spa credit

Room Tip: Ask for Balcony room in west wing. The higher the better
