“An older but nice Holiday Inn in downtown Laguna Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

This Holiday Inn is an older property, but it is well-kept. The rooms surround an inner courtyard with a pool and attractive garden. The rooms are a bit dated but are clean and comfortable. I've stayed at this hotel a few times recently, mid-week and off-season, and it's been very quiet. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. They even offered to print off a map on Map Quest for me, instead of merely providing verbal directions.

The really cool ammenities that this hotel offers are complimentary bottles of water, cans of soda, and fresh-popped popcorn in the lobby. What a nice touch! The Italian restaurant attached to this Holiday Inn, Mare Culinary Lounge, serves amazing food. It's not your 'typical' hotel restaurant and it is definitely worth a visit even if you're not staying at the Holiday Inn.

Across the street is a wonderful breakfast spot called The Orange Inn. They have fantastic homemade muffins. They also serve fresh juices and smoothies, as well as coffee. Sometime I'd like to check out their lunch offerings. The steps leading down to the beach are just beyond The Orange Inn.

Laguna Beach is a great place to visit. I would probably steer clear during the crazy summer season, but during this time of year it's easy to get around town, park, and enjoy the 70+ restaurants that the town has to offer.

The staff was very nice and very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The gardens were well done and well maintained. But, the place does need a face lift. It is showing it's age and it is time to start renovation. Would I stay here again, sure but it would not be my first choice.

By the way the location is primo for Laguna and I'll bet if you check prices for other accomadations in the immediate area you would give the HI a go. Walk to most everything you could want to.

Just put a little paint on the walls and spit shine the chrome and the old lady could be brought back to its glory.

Room Tip: Stay to the back of the hotel away from the bar in front. People tend to stand outside and you can...

We stayed for 2 nights during a trip up the coast to LA. This hotel is in a great location in that it is walking distance to 'downtown' Laguna and the beach. It is also across the street from a Ralph's grocery store which is handy since there is a mini fridge in the room. The room was clean and well maintained and overall the property was well cared for. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
Overall this is a good spot to stay.

besides the location, this hotel has very little to offer in term of facilities and services.
during our family recent stay, one of our sons was sick and preventd us from exploring the area, so we decided to stay put and use what the hotel can offered.
well, it turned out that the hotel restaurant downstair was closed to all staying customers to host a private party with rowdy drinking crowd. the management even allowed the restaurant operator set up tables in courtyard area intefering the privacy of staying guests
if you are looking for relaxing time in Laguna Beach, you will not find it at this hotel.

We stayed here as part of our California Beach Vacation and expected a regular nice resort style Holiday Inn. However this hotel is located on a very busy 4 lane street with very small cramped rooms. No view, no balcony and very small windows directly looking into other rooms. The building is very narrow and small with the rooms on top of each other. You hear everything going on around you. Also we stayed 3 nights (checked in late and checked out early) and were charged 4 days for parking, which kind of felt as a rip off, even more as the parking grounds were under construction and very hard to access without proper signage or warning from the staff. We expected more........

Room Tip: Stay on the 2nd (highest) floor

Small rooms. De ent location. Friendly service.

Totally inadequate amenities starting with wifi that would make one pine for dial up; this is simply unacceptable I'm this day and age,

Parking situation is a mess ... Not trying to be unkind, but why would I want to stay here again?

We've stayed at a few places in Laguna Beach, and I have to say this Holiday Inn really exceeded my expectations. Great location, right in the heart of the village. Right across the street from the ocean, and within close walking distance to all the great shops and restaurants. We stayed in a room on the second floor overlooking the pool. Unfortunately the pool was closed for maintenance the week of our stay, but the manager called us a week prior to our visit to let us know. Once we got there, they said we could use the pools across the street at Pacific Edge Hotel so it all worked out just fine. The rooms were very clean, and the hotel itself is very pretty. Beautiful wrought iron balconies and lush tropical plants all around. Very nice. Also liked having the Ralph's grocery store right across the street... Oh, and the Orange Inn, too. Looks like a little hole-in-the-wall type place, but the food is excellent! We loved getting the freshly squeezed OJ every morning, and for lunch we tried their chicken salad sandwich - delicious! Anyway, the Holiday Inn Laguna Beach is a great place to stay. Wish they didn't charge $12 a day to park, but that seems to be pretty standard for most hotels these days.
