“Legendary garden in lovely Laguna Beach CA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

call ahead to make sure you can experience this garden which is open to the public certain days each year. The other way to enjoy this garden is to volunteer and donate your time and money to preserve a southern California experience of the past.
Access is up Boat Canyon, and when the Garden is open, there is often a tram going into the gated community.

“A timeless Botanical and Architectural Estate - An Amazing Laguna Beach Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2011

One of those rare properties that perfectly captures the wit and creativity of a true original, The Hortense Miller Residence and Botanical Gardens are the perfect example of Southern Californian indoor/outdoor living. The timeless quality of the clean architectural lines are juxtaposed with beautiful plant specimens and intimate gardens in such a way that each visitor finds inspiration for expressing creativity in their own homes and gardens. Available for private tours and gardening work days, The Hortense Miller Botanical Garden should be on every Southern California visitors must see list.

“A Hidden Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2009

Attention Gardeners
I went to these amazing gardens nearly 13 years ago and loved the experience. The owner, Hortense Miller, is quite a sage and has a story about all the differing plants, shrubs and trees on her property. At that time, she was 90 years+ Then, about six years ago, I returned at her invitation (from the first visit) to give her some bulbs she'd never heard of or seen-CA Crocus. She is as sharp as a copper penny. It is truly a gardener's paradise. Ask about her "reed fence, chairs and patio cover." If you visit at different seasons, there is so much variety that you'll never tire of its beauty. Plan on spending some time there. Enjoy the magnificent view of the Pacific and also the hills behind the property. P.S. She has a Holly vine growing and other surprises you'd never expect to find here in So. CA. Enjoy!
