Laguna Beach is known for its wonderful restaurants. Still, the Watermarc is consistently my first choice. The food is creative and innovative ~ everything from Grilled Salmon & New Zealand Lamb to great hamburgers and "the best gourmet Hot Dog (but only for lunch)" in town. The bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming so if you are alone, you can eat at the bar and feel a part of the city. There will probably be 'locals' good-naturedly conversing with whichever bartender is on duty and before you know it, you will be center-stage in the conversation.
Add to that, what I call, 'the secret ingredient." Lucy, the General Manager. I swear she has eyes in the back of her head (just like your Mom seemed to). She is the definition of capable and lovable and oversees all aspects of the restaurant with ease. It is the kind of restaurant that, if you have a complaint, speak up because they are truly there to serve you and pride themselves on being professionals who intend to keep the standards of good food and good service at the highest level of excellence. I'm not sure what kind of menu they have for children, so that would be something to ask when making a reservation. Other than that, I wouldn't hesitate to meet friends, suggest it as a great place for a quiet dinner or a business lunch.
