I suppose someone might quibble that this isn't authentic Italian food, but it is genuinely delicious. The ambiance is quite nice, too, especially if the weather is good enough to let you eat outdoors.
I chose the lasagna specifically because it wasn't made in the traditional way. The light tomato sauce and beef/sausage mixture were excellent. I was not layered with pasta and cheese so it's not traditional, but it is excellent. The gnocchi with sage butter had an excellent mixture of mushrooms to go with it. My only issue with the smoked salmon appetizer was that it was too much when it didn't have a toast or something to go with it. But, hey, no one forced me to eat all of it. My dinner companions, who are familiar with this place, also raved about the chicken in vino rosso sauce.
Next time I go, I will get the lamb shanks. The dish seems expensive, but, judging from what I saw spying on other tables, it looked great.
The only negative was that the service got very slow. We arrived for an early dinner and the pace was OK. But once the place filled, we had to keep waving at our waiter to get his attention for refills, the next course, the check.
