The property is not exactly on the beaten path, but the property is very stately and the staff are all extremely helpful. Every single member of the staff I encountered seemed to do his or her best to provide excellent customer service.
The rooms (agree with another reviewer) are showing their age a little. Some of it cannot be avoided because the building itself is older. It is still luxurious, but some of the carpet looked a little tired and worn, the ceilings seemed a little low, and the bathroom perhaps was not the most updated. I had a lovely room that looked out on a courtyard.
I did take advantage of the spa services while there. The spa is small and a little cramped, but everything was wonderful.
The restaurants have very good food -- and room service, of course.
While it is a distance to the nearest BART station, the hotel offers a shuttle service which made the property quite convenient.
There was a very loud even downstairs one of the nights I was there. I could hear the music as if it were next door. I was trying to call it an early night, so that was a little on the frustrating side. I realize, however, with the building being older they probably cannot do too much to reduce the noise.
