“Beauty and Exercise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Just purchased an annual pass to Lafayette Reservoir again, after a hiatus of about 20 years! Rediscovered the beauty of this 2.7mile paved walk. There are benches to rest on and picnic tables near the water's edge to relax at. The area has a great playground for children and one for toddlers. Great picnic areas. There are paddle boats and rowboats for rent. Security is continually surveying the area~ lots of joggers and walkers and leashed dogs on the trail. Bring your quarters for the meters that need to be fed during open park hours or pay the $6 daily parking fee. Annual passes are available for purchase.

“Perfect park with a reservoir and a trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

This is really one of the best East Bay parks.

The reservoir is large and old, so it gives the park a "wild" nature feel. There are two trails around it, one is paved and goes by the shore and it's a perfect walk, not too long, not too short, with nice scenic views and occasional animals in the bushes and wild blackberries. There is a longer trail on top of the hills, it's more rugged and unpaved.

This place is really great on hot summer days because you can also find some shady area by the water - feels great in the heat!

It also has kids playgrounds, info center, BBQ pits, rental boats and fishing places if you don't want to walk or run.

This is a fine place to bring your kids, friends or just go alone.

The parking is quite expensive, so ask for an annual pass if you go there often. Or bring your quarters - if you are staying for a couple hours and find a meter it would be a better deal than paying a daily rate.
