“Nice ut aged ressort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012 via mobile

We are still waiting for the manager to contact us about the construction work which started four days prior to our departure at 7 am in the morning!
While we enjoy this place - aged as it is- we would have appreciated to be informed upfront that reconstruction will happen close to our casita half way through the stay.
The gym tries to remain ahead of things, but does get as aged as the rest of the resort these days.
The WiFi connection- provided as part of the $27 resort fee was by far not strong enough to use skype and half of the time crumbled entirely.
We will return, but only if we have to pay no more than during July!

I have no idea why Hilton has labeled this a 5 star Waldorf Astoria property. The service is inconsistent and the upkeep of the rooms and pool areas is mediocre. It's unfortunate because the location and the original property are amazing. But the management at La Quinta is sloppy. I have stayed at many 5 star resorts around the world, so I'm familiar with that level of quality.

We experienced long check in lines with only two front desk personnel, (There was never any attempt to get more people at the front desk.) There was also loud jack hammering near our room when I had specifically requested a quiet room to celebrate our birthdays. We were then moved to an upgraded room.

Ice machines were very far away (10 minute walk, outside in the intense heat of Palm Springs area.) The bathroom sink in our first room had a large crack in it. There were bits of garbage outside our door to greet us in our upgraded room.

The fees tacked on for room service were outrageous given the service was spotty. (Our room service waiter was going to put our food down on a table outside lined with a thick layer of dirt. But first asking me if it was OK. I wanted to ask him if it would be OK with him to pay $100 for a mediocre meal served on a completely filthy table. But instead, I wet a wash cloth for him to clean off the table.)

I did write a lengthy letter to Hilton about our stay at La Quinta, but I didn't receive a reply. Not even a Thanks for bringing these issues to our attention. It looks to me like they just don't care. It's too bad because this could be an amazing high-end resort if there was decent management.

An oasis in the desert! The conference meeting rooms and meals were very well done. They staff even opened the doors for each guest as they arrived to meals, and offered and poured/served beverages at the breakfast buffet. The rooms were clean, the linens fresh, and the grounds lush. We especially liked the sense of privacy, even in such a large compound of buildings. Every staff member I passed in the common areas greeted me with a smile and a hello. Great tableside guacamole at the Adobe Grill, and they let us relax and visit for awhile after our meal. There were a few minor flaws in the room: loose tiles in the bathroom and a patio light that we were unable to turn off (shone into the room during the night). I would most certainly return again.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms had wonderful views of surrounding mountains and patios to hang out on in the eve...

The resort is almost 100 years old. Some rooms nicer than others!!!.
We stayed in the 400's and had 4 rooms. They were all very comfortable and well kept.
The pool outside our room was very nice. They have a pool for adults called the Plunge which serves drinks and plays music. That was decent.
I would go back to this hotel however I would want to stay in the 600 or 700 areas. Newer and prettier grounds.
I had only 2 issues with the Las Quinta Resort.
1) They do not keep the areas around the pool clean enough.... Food/garbage left out for hours. Arms of chairs and lounges never cleaned - we were there for 5 days - as a result, tons of flies on the chair arms! yuck!. Spiderwebs on the bases of most chairs and lounges. At night they reveal black widows.
2) Food was excellent but VERY expensive. Breakfast for 3 with just water - $70. 2 drinks at the Plunge - $34.

Room Tip: stay in the 600-900 number rooms

We stayed 2 nights in July and loved it. It was so quiet and peaceful. We were upgraded to a poolside room and it was fantastic. We had a little cottage type at the end of the pool in a corner it was so quiet. The rooms are fantastic. Clean and spacious. Loved the oversize tub in bathroom. We even had a fireplace although it was 110 outside ;). There seemed to be nobody around the pool outside our door so it was great like our own private oasis. The restaurants are nice. We only got to have a couple of hours in Twenty6 but Victor the barman is lovely and we had a great time with him. He makes great cocktails. We ate in ADOBE , nachos were good , check out their happy hour. Overall experience was great the ground were lovely the staff excellent. Even got a free late checkout cos hubby was golfing at PGA west. Their tennis facilities are outstanding.

Def would reccommend and DEFINATELY will be going back myself

This was a weekend getaway for my wife and I. We enjoyed the hotel and the staff was very professional. Here are the pro and cons of our stay
Pros:
Nice room, large, clean and quiet
lots of pools, clean and well maintained
Nice gardens

Cons:
The room was hot when we arrived and took hours to cool down. The first night was to hot to easy fall a sleep. once the room cooled down the room stayed very comfortable.
The cigar lounge closed at 9. That was way early for me.
The room was up stairs, a steep stairs. We had to schlepp our bags up then down the stairs.
A parking space was hard to find. We found one but it was lucky we did.
The balcony was in direct sun so it made it hard to sit outside and enjoy, there was little shade

Room Tip: ask for a downstairs room

I stayed at La Quinta resort during a conference in mid June. My room was big, and well appointed, but had some minor flaws that you would not expect in such an expensive property. There were some stains in the bed linens and also some spider webs in most of the lights. Moreover, there was a used coffee filter with some mold in the coffee maker. The bathroom was clean and the room was located in front of a beautiful swimming pool. I am not very picky, as I am used to more budget accommodations, but I would have felt pretty annoyed if i have had to pay for the room.
The resort is big and it can take some 10 to 15 minutes walk to get to the lobby from your room. The common areas near the lobby are nice and have some very beautiful pictures of movie stars shot in the early days of the hotel. There are several good but pricey restaurants and there is a very nice patio where you can have breakfast or dinner.
If you want to explore the surrounding areas you will need a car, as transportation is rather expensive.
If I had to pay for the room I would choose another place to stay...
