“Once in a lifetime experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

A friend recommended this so I decided to give it a try. I was a bit nervous, but my pilot Ki was absolutely wonderful. He was so friendly and managed to calm my nerves so that I was able to enjoy a spectacular flight. The flights are dependent on wind conditions, and I had to wait two hours for the winds to pick up enough to fly. I was there early afternoon, and I later heard that the winds are best in the morning (at least for this time of year). It is expensive ($150 for a 25 minute flight), but as I said in the title it is a once in a lifetime experience and worth the money.

And even if you aren’t flying, it’s just a nice spot to relax and watch the paragliders/hang gliders. I didn’t eat at the café, but many people did while I was there and seemed to be enjoying the food.

The only reason this didn't get 5 stars was the lack of a decent bathroom facility. There are three porta-potties but there was no toilet paper and they were totally disgusting. But don’t let this deter you, just make sure you stop at a bathroom somewhere before heading out to the gliderport.

“Cool spot to spend an hour or two, different & fun for kids to see”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

If you're looking for something different for people from out of town to do, this might be a good choice. Easy to get to , it's a nice spot to spend an hour or two. Incredible views of the coastline, as other reviewers said, you can watch parasailing & hang gliders take off and land.
There is a little counter to buy soft drinks or snacks, or you can bring your own picnic, which is a nice idea if you think of it beforehand!
Its a nice, free, probably uniquely San Diego spot , and offers something different than the zoo or LEGOLAND if you have out of town people here for an extended visit, or a mixture of age groups.

“Just plain fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

I don't think you can see this anywhere else in the world. The prevailing winds off the Pacific Ocean, and the bluffs several hundred feet above the shore, combine to make this the perfect spot for hang gliders to just soar and soar and soar.

Parking is free; viewing is free. There is a grill available, if you want some food, and it's actually fairly modestly priced. Eating al fresco always makes things taste good, too, plus you've got the view.

And then there are the -- pick a word: daring? crazy? fun-loving? adventurous? trusting? -- people who strap into a hang glider or a paraglider, then just run straight for the cliff's edge. You gulp the first time you see them go over the edge and disappear for a split second, before the wind catches them and lifts them up and off to effortless gliding.

Then there are the folks with the radio-controlled glider planes, who seem to be testing the range limits of their radio controllers.

It's all just good, clean fun.

And free.

Enjoy!

“Thrilling”

Watch these folks dive off the cliffs in their gliders, and then soar back and forth. You'll spend 2 or more hours captivated.
